Sì, pero todavía hay filipinos que niegan la influencia española de la danza "Tariray". El uso de "bolabola" (denominación local para referirse a las castañuelas de bambú que se utilizan en muchas danza filipinas como las castañuelas de las bailes folclóricas españolas) es claramente una influencia española, pero hay nacionalistas que niegan esto y prefieren la teoría indigenista del origen de este adorno de baile. Otra danza de Tawi-Tawi, "Tawti", utiliza como adorno de baile las gafas de buceo, que ellos llaman "tipara" o "kipara", o sea una palabra de derivación española ("antipara" o "antiparas"). Se puede teorizar que el baile "Tawti" es un baile conceptualizado por los nativos de Tawi-tawi durante la era colonial española en Mindanao.
