    Norman Rowe So true. By the time that our unprincipled media finishes with its clever spin on "sexual abuse" the accused has already been ruined. Even if due process of law is given time to gain traction, it's often too late. The damage has already been done. I would submit that to the extent that we are pawns of the media and it's machinations, that we are no better than a lynch mob. While I whole heartedly applaud the new found freedom that women are finding in this matter, I am vehemently opposed to "guilty until proven innocent".

    David Diaz the proof is he admitted to sexual relationships with "multiple subordinates". That isn't illegal but it is improper and in the post Anita Hill/Clarence Thomas era it's stupid and dangerous. Do I believe these women were victims? No. Do I believe that their subjective feelings of being pressured to have sex to keep their job? No. But when one runs a company he should be careful not to treat the organization as a personal harem.

    Knowledgeisthekey1st It is happening to women already. Andrea Ramsey (D- KS) was running as a democrat in the primary elections to replace a republican house seat and she was accused back in 2005 of sexual harassment and retaliation (firing) against the male employee once he rebuffed her sexual advances. She had to drop out of the race because of the democrats' fake zero-tolerance policy that doesn't allow for due process.

    Patrick Pepin I fear this is spiraling out of control like he said. Tavis Smiley is the only one who has so eloquently defended his case. Women who came out about Harvey Weinstein had proof or examples, same as with Charlie Rose. So far all these relationships were consensual. I fear that people for their own vindictive gain are taking advantage of this situation and falsely accusing some men which will eventually cast doubts over the stories of innocent women in the future. On the other hand Tavis and all men, don't fool around with multiple women in the workplace because they will catch feelings and gang up and turn on you. haha All I'm saying is what your Mama told you, watch yo back!

    Not only that, if he has proof that they're lying, if he knows who they are he can provide the evidence. If he doesn't know who they are he can't provide evidence showing they're lying. At the same time, I don't know Tavis personally but anyone who consistently has workplace sexual relationships is using their power to manipulate. It's pretty simple. With all the women that he would come across in his adult life, why are workplace sexual relationships such a thing?

  • @Knowledgeisthekey1st

    @Knowledgeisthekey1st

    6 жыл бұрын

    Make Humanity Great Again - I agree with your statement with regards to him knowing his accusers in order to present evidence. But your statement on him manipulating women or anybody in authority position manipulating women is not true in my opinion. You don't think there are women everyday in the workplace turning down the advances of their bosses? Tavis is right, people meet in the workplace everyday and live the rest of their lives with each other. Some of those relationships were manager - employee relationships. Someone just recently sent me an example of Andrea Ramsey, she was accused of sexually harassing a man that worked for her but he turned down every last one of her advances and then sued her company. Not only should every woman who does not want to be approach that way in the workplace follow his example, there are many women already following that same example. So in my opinion, women date their bosses because they want to not because they feel manipulated. They are not little adolescent teenage girls, they are grown intelligent women.

Notice how Lauer ran and hid...and Smiley stepped forward, owned his actions, but defends his rights with integrity. He is not a "perfect man", but he is still a man and deserves support. I wonder how many of his "friends" will stand by him. Unfortunately, he is going to go thru hell. Maybe his actions warrant it, but maybe not. Tavis Smiley was 100% correct here. Millions, maybe tens of millions of men and women have met and engaged in legitimate, consensual romantic relationships with people who just happen to be their coworkers. Many people have met their spouses throughout the course of their work careers. This is an extremely dangerous slippery slope and possibly an overreaction to real cases of sexual misconduct.

Therefore, PBS doesn't have to treat him like an employee. Having sex with subordinates gives PBS legal right to suspend distribution to avoid liability. Having sex with with subordinates you can fire or promote is problematic, consent doesn't matter, it's inappropriate. There are some instances, where women/men will pursue their superior in order to gain access to certain opportunities. This is also unacceptable and It should be punished in the same way as a superior pursuing his/her subordinate. After all, aren’t they both breaking company policy if they had (consensual) relations? If this policy were to be applied fairly, would both the superior and the subordinate be facing the same repercussions for knowingly breaking company policy?

    I disagree with that. Because you could meet someone at a club or even at a party and they could still scream sexual harassment if they wanted. It doesn't have to be true, but I don't want you to think that it only goes on in the workplace, and that's unfair to people who know meet up at work and know better.

    as a female ..I'm beyond sick of women being able to use this card n not face who they are accusing. So let me get this straight these, women didn't have to supply the public their name, witnesses, dates, times, emails , pic supporting their claim BUT publicly he gets shamed.. As a female I feel like this is why we aren't paid as men or viewed as equals , Cuz of this crap here!!!! Now on interviews if you have looks we will be viewed as a liability!! Burn bras my ass,womens lib??? go back to the days when we were home n men worked...then maybe this witch hunt will be over..now if it's factual and had a ring of truth ..like Weinstein totally different..my heart goes out to those!! im pro female all day but this crap makes us look bad n not worth the risk... I'll try to make myself ugly as humanly possible on interviews from now on..But these broads need to be sued if no proof or lies!!

    Karen Green Hi Karen, Happy holidays and it's a pleasure to meet you. Believe me, I am every bit on your side about equal rights and I will be a MAN and say that women have every much right to do things as my gender does. But this isn't really about equality in this case, but about finding out the truth behind these allegations. For one, there's too many of these accusations going about right now and you really do have to wonder if these are actually true or is someone trying to besmirch these people's names. You're not ugly at all, and I'm on your side 100% I hope we can talk sometime soon.

    This is what happens when you mix business with pleasure dummy. Professionally its wrong for an owner of a company to repeatedly target his employees for sexual & dating purposes regardless if it's consensual. He's done this for years. He even openly admitted in this video that he has an employee currently working for him that he has had a sexual relationship with. I'm a black and as a black man this has nothing to do with racism. They already expect us to fuck up like Tavis did anyway. Why give them what they want?

    There is nothing wrong with dating the women that work for you. When you're done with one she can watch your relationship grow with her co worker. After all they are adults. Over the years after you run through all the fine ones, you can have human resources hire more to replace the women who move on. You are the man Tavis. It is your company. You do what you want with it. I wouldn't sue PBS. The millions they spend defending your suit has to be matched with the millions you spend to proceed. Your pockets ain't that deep. Open a new business and hire all the women you want. At least now they know what you want.

    In England any allegation of crimanal wrong doing (or inappropriate behavior) that has the potential for legal and civil consquenses the accuser and the accused are not allowed to make public statements about incident until the matter has been adjudicated in a court of law. Why do we not have such a standard in this country?? No person should have the unchecked power and unfettered leeway to destroy someones reputation and livelihood by simply going in front of a camera and microphone, (especially 10years after the fact) and accuse them of wrong doing without any empirical and vetted proof of the deed..

    If the accusers are bold to bring up the charge they should be bold to defend it in front of Tavis. The problem here is this has gotten out of hand. Tavis is not given fair due process. He's declared guilty before proven innocent. That's the problem in this situation.
