Tautog (Blackfish), Chub Mackerel Fishing in Narragansett, Rhode Island

Ойын-сауық

▶Contents
I went to Narragansett, Rhode Island in October, 2023. Firstly, I tried Tautog fishing with crabs I prepared the other day. But it was difficult to catch a lot. Also, we could see several spots where the surface of the sea was boiling with predators early in the morning and in the evening. I could catch a lot of chub mackerel.
I hope you enjoy this video :)

I used to fish Rhode Island when I lived in Connecticut. Now I live in New Hampshire. If you'd like a fishing partner, let me know. I work in Boston and fish in Portsmouth, NH often.

Aren't we able to just walk through the road toward the jetty? The sign said about an unauthorized vehicle, though.

Fresh crab will work better for tog. Try to keep them alive next time!

@BostonKremy They're very easy to keep alive. Water will drown them if you leave them in it. The best way to keep them long-term is to wash/rinse them with fresh seawater every few days and then keep them dry in a shady cool place. I've kept them alive in a bucket for 1-2 weeks before using this method. If you don't rinse them, their waste builds up and kills them.
