41 seconds, that's faster than most affordable cars, and even some less affordable.... Schienenwolf, where you the engineer on this train? If so, can you explain why the middle-eastern-accented guy screamed 230 while we saw 220? Also, was this with or without the test-carriage?

I think thats because the taurus 1216 (which this locomotive is called btw.) is allowed to drive 230 km/h. (The locomotive is mostly used in austrian railjets and austrian cargo transports)

I fear that you will not see this, however for anyone that now reads it. I suspect this was during the trial runs on the high speed line in the Netherlands. They used a Taurus for that, probably since the Fyra trains were not available.

@@treinenliefde I did see it ;) I guess so too, but didn't know that at the time. Fyra trains most likely had been withdrawn or close to being withdrawn from service at the time of this video.

@@weeardguy 2008 was before the Fyra trains were delivered, the first ones arriving one year later in 2009. I think (but I'm unsure) that when those arrived the Taurus was sent back to Austria, but around the time of uploading only that locomotive (or a Thalys train, I think they occasionally used one of those as well) would've been available for testing purposes.

@@treinenliefde Ah yeah, that's right. The Fyra-era is a bit of a vague memory for me as I was hospitalised for a few times around that time. I think there was even more than one Taurus, I vaguely recall a parallelfahrt of two locomotives on the HSL.

I'm very sure it won't. I hear Dutch voices in this video and they are referring to the only high speed commuter line we have (which at the time was seeing massive struggles, and continued to struggle after acquiring some of first doomed V250 trains that were supposed to run on it but suffered massive technical problems and turned out to be designed by a company that was completely clueless about building high speed trains). The distances between stations on the high speed line tend to be to short for the top speeds of the Shinkansen, the curves on the route only allow max speeds of around 250 kilometers an hour if I am not mistaking. Some of the foreign high speed train services that run on it can run at a maximum of 300 kilometers an hour, so as you can see, we are not even close to beating the Shinkansen, which holds a record for a very good reason :) (I hope to somehow see one in person someday). The video is with a carriageless locomotive by the way.
