This is why I'm here. Honesty, and progressing naturally. Not comparing yourselves to these photorealism gods and goddesses. There ain't nothing wrong with being a flash artist. If you do it well. It is honest, good work. It's fine. I've posted all my first skins. I have no issue with a timestamp on improvement.

Eazy DC I’ve actually got a big video uploading tomorrow which might help you out with this. It covers everything you need to know about tattoo ‘hit & bog’. Other than that the other advice would be, it’s always better to be too shallow than too deep, so slowly build up those lines until the ink looks solid. It really is a case of persistence, practice and patience too. Good luck with it!

Thank you! I think with anything realism it’s best to try get it looking good on paper first and then moving forward to tattoo it. First learning to do it on paper will give you a greater understanding of how the shades work etc. The vast majority of it literally just comes down to practicing over and over again. There’s not really a quick fix. Maybe do a bit of research on how to draw realistic portraits and things like this. These type of drawing lessons will massively improve your tattooing. The thing to bear in mind with realism is that most subjects don’t have an outline. If you give a realism tattoo an outline it will start to look cartoony.

Im thinking of opening a shop.. How many clients must you tattoo in order to pay the Rent of the shop plus electric bill , buy supplies need, and also give yourself a decent paycheck monthly or must you keep a day job to cover your ass to ensure a paycheck weekly?

This is different for almost everyone so I can’t give you a definitive answer. There’s so many factors involved as monthly costs like building rent can vary massively depending on size & location. There’s also insurance costs, license fees, business tax to name a few as well as your personal costs at home. Some tattooists price ‘per job’ and others have a set hourly fee but again it’s all down to personal preference. With a busy successful studio you shouldn’t need or even have time for another job. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

I started with a £30 dragonfly clone kit off of ebay it was not the best by a long shot but I didn't want to invest much incase I didn't carry on, it got the job done and I learned the basics with it all and replaced it with a bishop v6 later on
