If you play it at 1.75x speed you can really hear how similar it sounds. Music Book also has a motif that sounds like a mario song I can't put my finger on, maybe mario kart.

Actually, the one thing that immediately stands out to me is the way you did the vocal melody. Sometimes when people do covers like this they can end up sounding a bit lifeless, but this is actually really cool.

THIS GOES TOO HARD TO BE FREE

This was part of another project I am doing at the moment which I'm transcribing Tatsuro's albums. Since the files I'm working on uses soundfonts so I thought I had a little fun with it! The MIDI for 'Ride On Time' and 'For You' was already transcribed currently so it'll take some time to try and make another album like this. (I'll try and post the project I was doing originally in the near future👍)

Knowing this started from transcribing the albums (an incredible project by itself) makes so much sense. The attention to detail is unreal, the layers are all there. It's just astounding work.

oh my gosh my favorite city pop album now in sm64

Normally this genre of taking beloved album and putting it in the SM64 soundfont doesn’t work for me because of the differences in the initial album’s sound, as well as very strange production choices. This one has a good album that is close enough in style to the soundfont; uses pitch bending correctly on the vocal lines; and, most importantly, utilizes the instruments in the soundfont in a logical way so as to replace Yamashita’s instrumental choices. Actually one of the best albums in the SM64 genre in that regard.

Dude this is freaking amazing. I hope someone makes a Mario 64 Hack with these some day. Tatsuro's music and melodies translate very well even to this soundfont. For You is also just so varied and one of Tats's best albums. Music Book sounds right at home with Mario 64. Man you made my day. Edit: Also, if you're able can I contact you about paying for all the MIDI files for For You and Ride on Time 64? No BS I will pay you for these. I just want to use them in personal projects.
