Tata Punch EV | 120bhp, 0-100kmph in 9.35s | First Drive Review | evo India
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
The new Tata Punch EV has been launched, and it's based on the new acti.ev architecture. The new Punch EV is quite different from its ICE sibling in terms of its ride and handling, and not to mention, much quicker. The electric Punch is available in two variants -- standard range, and long range. The standard gets an 80.5bhp, 114Nm motor with an MIDC range of 315km, while the long range variant gets a 120bhp, 190Nm motor with an MIDC range of 421km. Editor Sirish Chandran puts the 2024 Tata Punch EV through its paces in a specially curated off-road track, as well as in the real world to find out if it now packs a punch, in this first drive review.

The best small EV in India 👍🏼

The quality of the vehicle is pretty bad,, Fit and Finish is bad, Hard Plastics all around, Body Roll is there, steering has no feedback. It's basically like Wagon R with great engine and DCT gearbox and full of slow functioning features. Seriously, It feels so bad. But is there a choice for a EV buyer especially a budget one ?

As usual Sirish & Overdrive giving a comprehensive First ride impression of Punch EV! Great work guys as usual! 👍🏼 Overall a great EV! I can understand it's a new EV so prices will be higher. Some of the features/things Punch EV needs IMHO: 1) No excuse for not having 60:40 split for rear seats, it won't cost Tata ₹1 Lakh or something! 2)Rear Central Arm rest without cup holders? What's the deal Tata? It ain't no luxury item that will cost you guys arms & legs? 3) Absence of Rear seat charging facility! Why? Just why? A Type C/A ( or a 12V port) port won't kill you! 4)That Physigital doesn't need to house Fog lamps & Hazard Lights. 5) That touchscreen infotainment system needs a rotary dial with some buttons on both sides of it. The area below the A/C vent unit is wasted, put those controls there. 6) Having Rake & Reach adjustable should be counted as a basic safety feature! Why leave it out? 7) How about giving a cabin light for rear seats? 8) Redesign that steering wheel mounted controls, it gets accidentally touched far too many times. These are some of the essential features that I think a customer will definitely miss. And now some things which aren't necessary but I would have liked: 1) Rear AC vents with basic controls 2) Rear Connected Lights like on Other EVs from Tata. 3) Decrease the use of Piano Black, Please it's nothing good! 4) Reduce the blank space on that Physigital control pane, looks not that aesthetic with all the blank space. Gets scratches, fingerprints like crazy. 5)12V port inside the boot! 6) Provide Type C port inside the front armrest. Also provide behind the binnacle of Instrument cluster/ or behind the IRVM for dash cam installation. 7) Reduce the size of that Rotary Drive controller, its huge. That's what I personally think it needs! Otherwise a great car.

i Have driven every hatch car in India, but none of them has dynamics of Altroz and handling is spot on...just love that car, apart from some slow engine that car deserves to haver an EV or proper GDi madness. Only car that feels better is (was Polo)...I wish VW launches Polo in india someday.
Good One Sireesh! Looks that this Tata Punch EV is a very compelling proposition indeed. Seems packed with functions and features and good value. If only it could give a real world 400km range! Main thing is if one drives up some steep hills, it will run rapidly out of juice and that can be a worry for people who do frequent hill trips from the plains. It can do 300 kms in the plains but it can’t do 300kms including a steep section. For example it won’t get to Chennai or Coimbatore from Bangalore on one charge.
The rear design of punch is controversial. For me it looks fab in the dark, but otherwise puts me off. Tata should have improved it instead of meddling with its already good front design.

Hi Team Evo, do you think Tata could have added the spare wheel similar to a Ford EcoSport. I think that would save the vehicle from people rear ending the vehicle. Simple solution to the missing wheel which is needed on Indian roads...

@@evoIndia Despite the difficulties of putting up an EV Charging Point in gated societies, I am keen to look at them - especially the Punch EV. What puts me on the backfoot is Tata's (in)famous uneven panel gaps and terrible after sales, especially where EVs are concerned! Especially where Gen 1 models are concerned, and this is Gen 1 of the Punch, what with so much changed! Again, from the reports I read, it appears that their EV service staff have just been let loose on unsuspecting EV purchasers! They need to be trained thoroughly, if Tata wants to be counted as the King of EVs in India, in my opinion...
Plz talk more about the real range in city .😊

My Atherwala colleague drew similarities between his scooter with the Punch, only thing that departed was ICE. Now ePunch might have cleared his hurdles on his buying decision. However, we’re looking forward for the Punch to retain it’s 5* rating in BNCAP for it’s ActiEV platform as well as for it’s Alfa.

I just purchased xuv 400 for 12.5 L onroad base variant on offer. 1. Higher range 2. Bigger boot 3. Wider and comfy seats 4. Much much better suspension . 5. 0-100 in 8.5 secs 6. Same safety ratings. 7. Better high speed stability. 8. Switchable esp. You can enjoy your gimmicky tab screen on your little punch 😂

Thoroughly disappointed with this review. The main purpose of watching is to know the range that it gives in the real world. Unfortunately nothing of that sort is coming out. After watching many other 100 to 0 % range tests this car can give a real world range of around 270 kms.

In my opinion .. Tata are not making ev cars ... Simply assemble like Delhi wala assembly shop. No innovation at all. What's the fun in cosmetic merits rather than give a consistent battery performance. Endurance for rainy water filled roads, rainy water drivability ect. It is only costly toy as of now. They should complete with Tesla or BYD in specifications and performance . With their Delhiwala assembly shop which is not possible & impossible. They will lobby with government in fear of losing will stop Tesla and other competitors . Not healthy ground.
