Watching this episode while drinking beerlao in my hotel in Vientiane, precious!
Born in Laos, grew up in Australia.. we left after the Vietnam war...my parents knew there no future for us there when the communist came in...Thank you for showing my birth country...and how the "secret" war affected the whole country🙏🙏🙏
It gives me great joy and immense sorrow that one of my father's heroes gave his time and attention to the country and people that he devoted all his life's work to. I only wish both men were alive to share their love for culture and life together. Rest peacefully, both my heroes.
Never seen this episode before, saw the no reservations one, which I enjoyed but this, well. That was beautiful, enchanting and enlightening. Makes you ashamed to be American. This is why this man is a legend. Laos is definitely on my bucket list. Only the British guy Simon Reeve can lay a claim to be compared to this great man.

Anthony Bourdain is one of kind, a legend, a man who spoke his mind without a filter, a passionate writer who had no boundaries and kept pushing his limit beyond his imagination. There is no other man like him, no comparison to put it simply.
Laos is one of my favourite countries I have visited, so glad that Anthony Bourdain came here and showed the country, along with highlighting some of its sad recent history.
Near perfect episode with a powerful ending. And a powerful message. Yes its a country with only 7m people. But those people are lovely and kind.
So euphoric. Anthony doesn’t just take you to eat food but tells a story of the local culture. Beautiful!
26:40 was a beautiful moment. If only more of us would practice this philosophy.
Another comment saying you're missed Tony. Legend
It’s amazing how different this Laos looked compared to now
Another super episode. Tony you are sadly missed
Brilliant work, Anthony bourdain!! In Laos , I will look to have similar experiences with the beautiful people ❤️
What an extraordinary programme. things I never knew. it's almost not about the food, at all
Thanku for sharing his work, much appreciated, love watching his amazing video, s,
My wife was there a few years ago, beautiful country and people.Yes,a lot of reminders of the war in the local population and it shows on how many places make arms and legs for those that are lost.Sad but true.
Lived there for 7 months , a wonderful people in a magical land ..
Finally made it to visit Lao a few months ago and from my experience it‘s the most spiritual, primitive, special and (partially) unspoilt of the SEA Region. Beautiful people, full of grace and majestic landscapes, culture and food. Terrible past and also a dangerous present, mostly through Chinese exploitation of their scarce resources. Still, unforgettable, eager to come back one day.

The amount of Chinese vehicles importing goods from Laos over the mountainous border is crazy. Trying to navigate the mountain roads sharp turns with these vehicles is even crazier!
Always loved this episode of the great man and currently here right now in Luang prabang enjoying this amazing place for the first time.
Incredible , as always . the ending moved me
People talking about how dangerous Mexico is, or worried about a "war" between Ukraine and Russia but no one pay attention to countries like Laos that have been suffering the consequences of cluster bombs and landmines for years

Yeah the worry about the Ukraine war from western countries is really hypocritical when you consider how many wars across the world have existed for years. But it's inside Europe so now people suddenly realize there is war in the world.

It's these episodes I really enjoy Anthony really had a soft spot 4 these ppl places like this really brought the best out 4 ever Missed ❤️ R.I.P. A.B 🙏❤️ Migwech 🙏
Thank You so much for this video as sad as it was to watch what a lovely place and people
The thing about these ZPZ productions is they cunningly hide real production chops behind the front man. That's an awful lot of talent on one team.
Totally chill people, wonderful beer, and stunning scenery. We live just under 6 hours drive from the border, so a visit might be in order...
The title represents only 3% of what's inside this episode. The 'bombies' might be more appropriate to be in the title. The five minutes towards the ending without being narrated, that is a brilliant decision.

Same thing they did to so many other lands. US is not the only culprit here - the French have a lot to answer for.

That’s the Loy Kratong festival at the end…..an apt example of the beauty and compassion of Asian people compared to the vile principles of the West…..say no more, period
Just eat Tony. Poking around and asking questions could make you dead.
Wish we had stuff like that in the UK. we just have Racism, Pies, and Morris Dancing. Not quite the same.

Laos is wonderful and so is the food. Shame that Anthony uses the American pronunciation of the country not the local one. The final "s" is a French invention but is meant to be silent, just like the "s" in Paris.
