I'm looking forward to your video later in the year. It's great to hear you cutting through the hype and because you live close to me (Chandler) that what does well for you should do well for me also. I have a small VBD and Brown Turkey and I want to try grafting a few new varieties next year onto those. Thanks 😊

Interesting that I ran across this video after subscribing to you. You're VERY knowledgeable and like the way you present info. I just bought a 1 gal fig from a lady in San Antonio. Wish I could post pictures here, but looks a lot like your Adriatic, but has some seed crunch and is darker red in center. One question I didn't ask her is if it produced breba. I bought this over the fancier ones because I'm a beginner and wanted something acclimated to my climate (Houston area). Here's what the lady said about the fig: "The strawberry fig (that’s the name my father called it as well as my brother ) whom have grown figs for many years. Honestly the fig was obtained from a lady Ms.Verda Jack an older woman they met many years ago who stated she had grown her tree from a fig cutting that her grandmother brought here from Spain. So it is likely that’s what took place but the authentic name I can not be certain . However the fig ,strawberry fig, is how I became in love with figs all together. Now I adore many. Closed eye fig that is large in size and crunchy somewhat or seedy and thrives in the Texas heat. After all iur varities are completely finished for the season the strawberry fig pushes aggressively for 3-4 weeks longer. Again thriving in the extreme summer heat it almost jams on the tree if you let them go past ripe. Very fruity in a dense way. So deep fruit flavor or condensed flavor and great table life. 4-5 days out of fridge they stay fresh. The skin is tasty and it’s beautiful contrast in color. Maybe it’s a bit fruitier than strawberry. Like strawberry mixed with a sweetened raspberry. Not a tart raspberry but just sweet and fruity lol hope that helps."

I live in Peoria, AZ and have a good sized (7ft tall), two-year in ground VdB that produces a lot of delicious figs. How would you compare figo preto vs VdB?

VdB is a great berry variety--rich and tasty but IMO FP is a couple notches above on taste with a truly unique profile. VdB has other pros like production and short fruit ripening cycles.

Thank you very much. I will buy a couple of scions this winter and see if they take on my Walmart bought "not-Kadota Fig" (mine also look like a strawberry verte) that is a heavy producer of delicious figs. I love and appreciate your channel, thank you for doing it!

about how many pounds of figs would you say you harvest a year at this point?

Production took a serious hit this year with all the grafts I put on to trial new varieties. That plus a very dry summer has weakened production. Hopefully volume goes up in Fall when the weather changes here. I love Fall here!

Shouldn’t have watched this just got a Rasberry latte and an adriatic JH off of figbid now I must have a figo preto lol. Do you have a Colle de dame Rimada? I’m kinda curious if it is worth getting in our climate.

lol! FP is worth it! I do not have CdDR--so far the CdD (Noir/Blanc/Grise) varieties have not fared to well and dry out in Summer. Still waiting for one to ripen properly.

Good to know I guess I will steer away from the CDD. Just won a Figo Preto on figbid lol; I need to stop watching your videos or my yard is gonna turn into a micro fig forest

@@EnlightenmentGarden Just curious if when ordering Figs from Figbid (or elsewhere) if you do anything to treat new plants etc for FMV? I'm fairly new to this and know little about this subject.
