Taste the Analog Rainbow! // An intro to the Farbfilters from Making Sound Machines

Музыка

READ THE RAINBOW //
Anyone ever wish their bright coloured teeth rotting treats were actually lovely characterful analog flavours of audio processing for you Eurorack system? Just me?
Here we have the Farbfilter series of modules from Making Sound Machines. The range includes the Farbfilter (Moog LPF + overdrive), Farbfolder (west coast classic wavefolding), Farbshaper (an absolute character machine) and the Farb Highpass (Moog style HPF + tilt EQ).
This video is an introduction to the range with a patch on each modules and some good fun bum wiggling patching with them create a thick and animated stereo image at the end.
As this is an introduction to the modules and we have plans for a future in depth demo (in my usual styley) you have the chance to ask questions, make requests and comments to say what you’d like to see and hear in the demo. Leave a comment below to get involved.

    indeed they do, bags of drive on the low pass and the tilt EQ is nice to play with and shaper the overall balance of frequencies prior to filtering too.

    Love Farbfolder, your bass sequence reminds me on Casios PD synthesis here. Just much nicer.

  • @compucorder64
    @compucorder64 Жыл бұрын

    They sound great. Seems like the bass response doesn't suffer as much with resonance as the Happy Nerding MMM VCF I used to have. I'd really love a maker to build a stereo 4hp analog filter just like this Farbfilter to use with my Cloud Terrarium, where I don't want bass drop with resonance. All filters should have some drive on tap, it's like chilli or black pepper. Tastes better!

    hmmm... that folder looks sweet I picked up the DWP folder from Dan at one of your modular meets, and it's great, though I am sometimes a bit lost with it then for father's day my lads bought me a West Pest and that has made me realise I need to get into wavefolding more and that Farbfilter fold looks a lot easy to use than Dan's

  • @DivKid

    @DivKid

    Жыл бұрын

    The DPW Folder is fantastic, very musical and of course wide ranging with it's separate positive and negative controls and modulation. But as you point out doing things differently and with more control doesn't make it easier to use. Check out the Farb Folder and Shaper but also check out the Joranalogue Fold 6 too for smaller simpler folders. Not that I'd replace the DPW with it, but like filters more than one isn't a bad thing.

    I just ordered a FarbShaper directly from Making Sound Machines. Looking forward to modifying the many saw waves I get out of my Subharmonicon. I'd love to see what you could do during an in-depth video on the FarbShaper. Thanks for the video. Much Respect.

    @@DivKid I feel that. I am looking forward to your stopplerbeats vid for sure. I've been tempted to replace my drum machine with a eurorack setup with stopplerbeats as the brain. Something I said I’d never do. I love my DSI Tempest, but that swing in Stopplerbeats is impressive. I get a similar swing from Marbles; they could be a fantastic duo. Enrica and Roland are excellent designers. I think Making Sound Machines has a bright future.

    Hi Greg, that's the Happy Nerding FX Aid. Into (could be any VCA utility though) the Vostok Instruments VCA called Ceres on two channels for sidechaining. That's done with an envelope (from Fuji, again Vostok Instruments) that's inverted and offset (in Asset, again Vostok Instruments). I don't think I've taken the FX Aid off that setting for the past few videos. Just some odd dialling in of the settings on the knobs, bit of a go to big verb at the minute that I'm enjoying.

    @@DivKid Good to know, this is one gorgeous track, been listening to it for months now. The synth sounds are classic in a very good sense, the beautiful harmony and rhythm make it a classic electronic track that breathes serenity and peace. Seeing our channel I assume you used at least partly analogue synths.

    I'd have to go back and check what I used on the different tracks on that album, the first album of tracks I did had lots of modular synth gear on it. Second one some, but more software leaning as well.
