EX takes place in an alternate 3D timeline around Street Fighter II.

@@KenMasters. So there's both a 3-D and 2-D Timelines for Street Fighter, While the 2-D Street Fighter Games (from 4 to 5) is the real Main Canon Timeline, And the 3-D Street Fighter Games (EX 1 to 3) is just an Alternate Timeline which is Non Canon, Well that's a Bummer. 😔

@@joseurbina3835 That's where Capcom messed up. They considered the 3D SFEX Trilogy as non-canon, but the 2.5D SFIV and SFV are canon.
