Mario's doctor heard about the "Magic Mushrooms" which make Mario grow to twice his normal size and let him break bricks. Fearing for Mario's health, he orders Mario to avoid those nasty powerups.
This run aims to complete as many exits as possible without collecting any permanent powerups, including Mushrooms, Fire flowers, Feathers, Switch Palace blocks. Unable to fly, Mario is forced to confront most obstacles and overcome them in unique ways. Riding Yoshi is also banned. 86 out of the total 96 exits are completed.
In this run, the author, PangaeaPanga ( tasvideos.org/Users/Profile/P... ), saves 01:32.43 over the previous movie ( tasvideos.org/892M ) by using better paths, new tricks, and lag reduction. For a level by level analysis of the improvements, please see the author's notes ( tasvideos.org/3260S ).

I've heard it said that a good TAS makes the viewer unsure what's optimization and what's entertainment. This is a very good TAS.
I love that Panga's sense of humor still comes out in a TAS run.
You know you got a good TAS when panga does it.
So panga has finally reached the point where he can submit normal runs as TAS's?
As a kid playing this game i tried to get through every single level and exit of this game. I had the most trouble with Valley Fortress and finding the entrance to Chocolate Secret respectively due to those pillars that squash you in an instant and my confusion of trying to find the key respectively. I ended up beating both levels within days. I was so happy to finally beat all the levels until years later when i discovered that i missed Soda Lake. I was a bit devastated but at least it was worth trying to beat 100% of my childhood.
