--------
Super Mario World is one of the most popular SNES games of all time. Its relevance in today's gaming culture cannot be understated. From its colorful graphics, to its smooth and satisfying controls, to its memorable soundtrack, and to its many MANY glitches.
Over the years, Super Mario World has had a wide range of exploits in order to do some crazy stuff ( tasvideos.org/2513M ). However, many of the glitches don't save any time in a speedrun. This TAS by IgorOliveira666 ( tasvideos.org/Users/Profile/I... ) aims to showcase as many glitches and exploits in this game as possible, without worrying about speed. Some glitches are so intense that they crash the game, necessitating a restart of the console.

Things I've learned from watching this vid: 1. You can avoid death by going somewhere else 2. There are rare breeds of yoshi you never heard of 3. The wall is just another place to put your feet 4. If kick something enough magic happens 5. You can choose to die anywhere 6. Exits are merely a suggestion 7. Ghosts are weak to your face 8. Godammnit Luigi 9. Something's fishy about the P-switch 10. Anything can be anywhere with enough spinning

As a former smw kaizo player and avid watcher of kaizo players, I recognize so many of these glitches! It still makes me go WTF over some of the stuff like Hammerchuck Yoshi though. Good show
@JanusHoW
2 жыл бұрын
I'd personally love to see a Kaizo hack that _requires_ these sort of shenanigans - getting past certain obstacles would require memory manipulation, like summoning enemies with the wrong sprites that still get you where you need to go, or requiring you to swap your held item so it becomes an invincibility star like he did in Vanilla Fortress.
@animowany111
Жыл бұрын
@@JanusHoW There are some hacks that do require glitches like that, most well-known is Item Abuse by Panga. They are effectively intended to be beaten by TAS, and even then it can be very difficult.
I knew a playaround TAS of this game would be good stuff, and this didn't disappoint. I just about lost it at 2:27:52, a glitch I'm just going to call "The Pipe Rim That Ate Chocolate Island".

Definitely the longest TAS I've ever watched. Man SMW is still like, _the_ best game ever made.

1:20:11 OH. MY. GOD. This TAS is just too much. I started watching this last night and couldn’t wait to finish it when I got home from work. I can’t remember the last time that’s happened lol
This is everything I love about a TAS
1:03:40 I love this level because of how beautifully chaotic the TAS makes it
This is honestly the first time I'm hearing of most of these… Most intriguing for me is 2:14:13, when Mario goes out of gameplay and into the overworld, while still being within gameplay, and 2:19:11 with how Chocolate Island 3 seems to load the lightning effects from the Valley of Bowser map screen, and how a perfectly-timed Feather grab could softlock the bonus game, alongside the various other times miscellaneous objects were spawned, like the Boos from Sunken Ghost Ship.
@superduperm1
Жыл бұрын
Can’t believe it took me this long to find a comment that mentioned either of those parts. They were by far the two biggest WTF moments of this video (in a three hour marathon LOADED with them). He even fights Bowser during the lightning/dark part, albeit the Mechakoopas are completely different sprites.
@animowany111
Жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure it did in fact load the Bowser fight in the wrong level, and what you see with the mushroom and dolphins shows how the Bowser fight reuses item slot variables to keep track of things, this is also pretty much how the cloud glitch works, because the X coordinate of whatever sprite slot the cloud normally loads into is reused for the Bowser timer
I'm amazed that first crash 19 minutes into the run didn't completely corrupt the SRAM.

Dang, Donut Plains 3 alone could be a very awesome TerminalMontage video. It's even more amazing how the player managed to keep Yoshi in his corrupted state beyond that one level. In fact, Hammerchuck Yoshi shows up multiple times! Edit: I have personally managed to pull a few of these glitches on my own back in the day, like clipping through the blocks in Star World 1 and the glitchy score for hitting Wigglers in Forest of Illusion 1, but the rest clearly require TAS to perform consistently.
