Funny how this is pretty much exactly how Pikmin was supposed to be played. Many games that get the TAS treatment get broken or made trivial. With Pikmin, you're playing the game exactly as intended, just, really really well.

this is unlike the usual speedrun, instead of the goal being to beat every level as fast as possible, the goal is to beat every level as efficiently as possible.

@@noah-pg7eg well i guess it would depend, there's different goals people have. for example, quitting a day early may make it faster in actual time, but if you go by the in-game days it would be better to stay and get more pikmin or ship parts

Dandori be like:

40:54 was a strong contender for me. Honestly though, most of the tricks in this run (the item canceling animation cancels, using olimar at rest to push the parts out of the water with 5 blues, even the beatboxing) have blown me away

The most genius part of this whole thing is using Olimar himself to pull stuff out of the water. That's actually pretty cool.

Funnily enough, according to description: "this is not a frame perfect TAS. I made this with the intention of completing the game with 50 pikmin in 6 days and not to get the fastest conceivable time. In fact, this TAS was done with save states only and there was no frame advancing used." If this is true, that's very impressive

Y'know what I love about a TAS of this game? You're bound by so many of the games rules such as carrying, pikmin limits, etc. that you're forced to not just plan your next trick, but how to efficiently deal with stuff at the end of the day as well. It's a TAS but unlike most TAS's you are planning for up to 10 minutes later.

Glad I found the source of the "Olimar beatbox" short I saw. I love when TAS does stuff like that during required waiting, like auto scrollers.

I think this is the first speedrun that I've ever fully watched. So fascinating to see how much you can do in this game with the bare minimum, its absolutely insane and amazing at the same time!

This is amazing! I've never watched speedruns or challenge runs in this game before, so every glitch / skip is new to me, but this was very entertaining and interesting. Thank you for putting in the effort to make this :)

Funny, when I was struggling to find a way to push the ionium jet out of the water I was thinking to myself how I really should just ask Hazel even though she's probably never even played the game before.

Might be my favorite TAS of all time. The fact that every single day comes right down to the final seconds is amazing. Normally for a TAS I’d expect at least one level to be beatable in like half a day, and one that requires two days. Unintentionally great design on Nintendo’s part.

The fact that Olimar is so powerful their ship can go to different maps without technically upgrading half the time

My favorite part was when Olimar looked at the camera and said "It's Dandorin' time" and Dandori'd all over the place

i just want you to know that i searched for this randomly and i am happy

Day 4 in this TAS is so amazing, it really uses every second of the day.

5:39 Pikmin beatboxing is real.

I was amazed at pushing out all submerged parts in the Forest Navel. I congratulate you on your achievement that you pulled up the #1 Ionium jet from water the same as the Anti-Dioxin Filter.

The craziest part of this to me is somehow all the monster interactions are planned for and knowing exactly what they will do when if thats how this was done

Beautiful run. I watched an older run last year and searched up Pikmin TAS earlier to show a friend, and found that this newer run existed! Some of these tricks absolutely blew my mind. When you left the blue onion with only 5 Pikmin, I was extremely curious to see how you'd get the fully submerged parts, and boy did you deliver. Bravo!

The Wii and Switch version inverted the behaviours I believe. On GCN, whistle drops them, not touching.

Imagine working for a boss this efficient.

This was amazing! The amount of planning and little brilliancies in this TAS was fantastic to watch! Great work!

Watching you do the whole Forest Naval in one go was really satisfying, but then you hit me with Distant Spring out of bounds and now I’m really IMPRESSED!

Purple onion - Purple Pikmin Pink onion - Winged Pikmin Black onion - Rock Pikmin Blue onion - Blue Pikmin (obviously) Green onion - Bulbmin (while the parasitic Pikmin that live inside them have never been seen, their leaves glow green when dismissed, leading most people to assume they're green. They only ones we haven't seen are orange and cyan Pikmin.

@@Mathi5000 I have no idea what an orange pikmin would do. And while cyan could be something cool like ice, I just can't imagine them implementing it because of how close their color is to blue. Although they could probably get around this by changing the shape or texture. After all, a black pikmin would look too close to a purple pikmin. And a purple pikmin would look too much like a pink pikmin. But they seemed to get around that just fine.

My own theory for orange pikmin is that they would be the construction expert pikmin, Like carpenter ants, they can to building jobs at 10x the speed of other pikmin Would be useful if enemies were capable of destroying the environment and some hazards required shelters to avoid

6 days, we see here that it's possible. 12 days is more likely, if you know what you're doing, since precision will not be that easy and you'll probably lose some pikmin along the way. 20 days makes sense if you don't know anything since you'll get lost, and might as well add on the extra 2 days from 18 bc they'll probably spend some time losing and regaining Pikmin 25 days if they're going for 100% and have been getting optional parts along the way Which still leaves 5 days for all the mess-ups
