Finally got around to finishing this! I'm super happy to have broken the 13m 30s barrier
This tool-assisted speedrun for Challenge Mode has several improvements over my previous run. Some big time saves come from the frame-perfect animation skip on the character select screen (select the character, select "controls", then hover over "OK"). If you time it perfectly, you can skip the animation that normally plays after you select a character (this would normally prevent you from clicking "OK" until the animation is over, and this glitch bypasses this delay). I also optimized the games vs Bowser Jr. and Bowser; they had a few suboptimal at-bats in the previous run
There were still many moments in this run where I lost time simply waiting for good RNG. For example, for Mario's grand slam vs. Bowser, I had to delay my pause buffers for around 20 frames or so, just so I could get good RNG on the pitch type/possible batting angles. Little moments like these happen throughout the TAS, just because I don't yet have the skills to manipulate RNG in a "timeline" fashion; I've simply brute forced my way through. Ideally, if I had knowledge of how the game seeds RNG (as well as how said RNG shifts when different actions occur), I could save a few more seconds in the run. That way, I wouldn't need to waste precious frames in the pause menu while waiting for those "perfect values"; I would hypothetically just already have these values on the first actionable frame
