12:55 this part right here for anyone who sees this and decides to play thru the game, if you have the medusa soul and while your doing that down kick thing, activate it and hold it till your mana runs out, will charge up the kick to insane proportions, I think I was getting like 300+ damage out of one kick💀

This is a TAS (Tool Assisted Speed run), everything you are seeing is being manipulated (through programming) which means that the soul will most definitely dropped by the enemy. I hope that helps. :D

If you can get down with old DS games I highly recommend, anything castlevania really even the old NES ones, theres a show on netflix too. Not ab this particular character in the story line, but, still, very cool, you see alot of references to the enemies that are common between all the games.

And actually, if you take your time with it, get full map completion, the good and bad endings, figure out all the puzzles and all the different weapons you can make by combining souls with original weapons, it's super cool. I spent an insane amount of my childhood playing this game. Dawn of sorrow, order of ecclessia, and portrait of ruin, all great games. Probably pretty cheap to get these days too.

Absolutely love this game, just finished a playthrough last week. This is a neat little TAS run too! But, I am curious: How exactly are the soul drops so seemingly consistent? Almost like in this TAS they're dropping nearly every first kill! (wish my last play through was like that) Is it some sort of RNG manipulation or was the run just repeated so many times until the best possible RNG was achieved? Edit: just read up on it thanks to the description! Very fascinating that Soma's constant seizures are able to let him harvest souls much more efficiently!

They put a save state before killing the enemy, if the soul doesn't drop, then they load the state

its rng, but in aria of sorrow, some one found this can be manipulated doing something in the same and before room, hit first or last enemy behind, jump, using ability, etc. every action doing the soul drop, see the aria of sorrow 100% soul tas, he explained all

I'd like to know what you discovered and where I can read it, I dont know anything about speed runs but I spent an insane amount of time playing this game as a kid and I was thinking the same thing, even with the best luck stat I could get from equipment and souls I never once got soul drops so frequently

I'll just copy my last reply message about this: As TASes are made frame by frame and with save states, this makes it possible to manipulate the Random Number Generator into dropping when needed. How this is down is to make a save before hitting an enemy, kill the enemy, see if you get the drop, if not, load the state, change the inputs in order to change the RNG and try again. How the RNG works in a game differs, but that's the general way of doing it. There are no cheat codes or modifications made to the game.

No, the game was not hacked/modified in any way, and there are no cheat codes used. Like all other TASes.

A "TAS" uses separate script (aside from a normal game ROM) that manipulates controller input and "save states". No manipulation of game ROM took place in any way and in any point during the making of the TAS script.

@@TompaA Its crazy how interesting TAS can manipulate the timing for something specific to happen, imagine that on real life, you're eating ice cream and its starts to melt, so you go back to a state of time where it didnt melt yet and prevent it from melting by licking on the part that was gonna melt
