Very enjoyable. I was a teenager living at home when the Avanti was first available. My father was friendly with the local Studebaker dealer. I think that he had an Avanti in his small showroom. As I recall my father lead me to believe that he might buy one as the family car. Realistically it wouldn't have been practical as we were a family of six. I do know that when he was younger that he liked to have a nice car including a Hudson Terraplane and a Packard convertible. Maybe he was just daydreaming out loud. I worked for a summer or two in high school for the local lumber/building material provider. They had 6 cylinder Chevy's and GMC's as well as V-8 Studebakers. The Studebakers were a lot more fun to drive than the others. Watching and listen to the Avanti in this video brings back memories.

The motor would probably be the 289 SuperCharged Studebaker. Block was a truck block of high nickel content. About everything in it was forged. Rods crank rocker arms, rods very heavy duty.. came with factory roll bar, in 62 had disc brakes, had a forged steel door pin. Became an intregal body part so on impact the door would not come open. Used the Studebaker Lark Convertible Frame.Studebaker had bought . Andy Granatelli/ STP Supercharger . Basic upper lower control arms. Sold differential in rear. Hope this comes out right.

Later Avanti IIs had GM powertrains in em lol vs the Studebaker 289 V8. However being that I like General Motors just as much as studes, I would personally say it was a match made in heaven lol. Still nothing like an original 1963-1964 South Bend made avanti. Fisher body works made the fiberglass bodies initially with Studebaker opting to make it themselves in-house, alas it was a bit too late.

Actually its an Avanti II as it was made after Studebaker went out of business. You can tell by the headlight arrangement. The Stude's only had round headlights behind round glass covers, the Avanti II's had round headlights under rectangular covers or rectangular lights under rectangular covers. Pretty much the same cars save for drivetrains and options.
