Tarantella del Gargano
Tarantella del Gargano - Anonymous
From the DVD „amarcord - The Book of Madrigals"
With Wolfram Lattke (tenor), Hille Perl (guitar), Lee Santana (theorbe), Michael Metzler (percussion) as well as Daniel Knauft (additional guitar), Holger Krause (additional percussion), Frank Ozimek (beanbags) and Robert Pohlers (acrobatics).
"The tarantella has a very special place in our repertoire. It is about the bite of the spider, which is cured by dancing to the music of the tarantella until the poison has disappeared from the body.
The tarantella allows an enormous amount of freedom. Basically, only the bass figure is fixed, and everything around it is improvised, ornamented. Not even the vocal melody is completely notated."
Wolfram Lattke

Tarantella del Gargano - Anonymus
Von der DVD „amarcord - The Book of Madrigals"

Wonderfull Ensemble, wonderfull music! Like it so much! Habe Sie heute in Arte gesehen, einfach großartig! Einen Fan haben Sie mir schon! Das Lied macht Gänsehaut!
Can hate all you want, his voice is amazing.

In this video: People who whine about irrelevant stuff like what the singers should be wearing or what the accent should be like. Damn, I'm gonna say it, his voice gave me shivers and that's all that matters to me. For all i care, these musicians had fun and I would guess that people in this era would like to have fun, too. Sure, there are versions with better accent which are more "historically accurate" or stuff but, still, this version is the best to my ears.

This is tradtional music played in the streets and in houses. The spirit that comes with this kind of music is exactly what we see in this video. Bach, Mozart, Beethoven where badass thinker against the rigidity of their peirs!

A lot of Italians wouldn’t either! It’s a southern dialect.

fascinant!!
The lover is not saying ya ya he is saying "ay'a" which means I must,... This phrase is corresponds to the Neapolitan "aggia" and to the sicilian "ayu a" both meaning " i must" or more literally " I have to". The lover in the song is saying that he has to dig a spring, not a fountain to water the garden he planted to entice, the woman who is does not respond to his advances.
: Superbe !
bravissimi!!!!!!!!

Then... why in Veneto? This reminds me those tourists who ask in Venice the way to get to Piazza San Pietro. The Tarantella del Gargano (Puglia) is the expression of a culture far from Venice as far from Reykjavik.
