They know each other very well, they’re from the same village south of Bucharest called Clejani and many of them are probably relatives. The “lautari” (approx translation “minstrels”) is a hundreds of years old job in the Romanian countryside. These lautari play at weddings, anniversaries, baptisms and any type of celebration every weekend all their lives. Playing is like breathing for them. My grandpa used to call the lautari in his village every year for an impromptu concert in his courtyard on St Mary’s day - his name was Marin, and in the countryside name days were more important than birthdays, literally everyone was named after a saint for protection. As for how authentic their music is, they were discovered in the late 80s by an ethnomusicologist from the Village Museum in Bucharest. She organized their first recordings for the museum. The music they play is literally thousands of years old. That’s why the other people from the Balkans recognize the sound, rhythm and the instruments. It all goes back to our common heritage from ancient times. It’s real powerful stuff. ❤🎻

Wonderful fact about tzigane music from the balkans ... the people that play it originates from india, they are called tziganes, rom people, travel people or gypsies. These people are travelling artists and performers that made it to Europe from India centuries ago. I guess this is why your dad, god bless him, was so attracted to this music, as it shares many similarities with indian raggas and virtuosity . Cheers.

Commiserations for your dad's passing... Gypsy/Romani music shares many similarities with Jewish Klezmer music of the Eastern-European Jews. It's so soulful and zestful. Faster and "happier" than the Jewish music... It also has many similarities to Balkan music, a bit with Greek music, some Turkish and Persian aspects to it, and Armenian/Georgian as well... And there is much in Arabic music that is also shared with certain sounds and instruments. It shows you how connected we all are, culturally, genetically and musically.

O gasesti in România, Bulgaria, Serbia, Albania si in unele locuri si in Grecia, dar in fiecare țară sunt amprentele culturii muzicale specifice. Interpretii de multe ori sunt romi si e firesc, pentru ca muzica e talentul lor principal.

I keep coming back to listen to this awesome music! I don't care if the musicians are Gypsy or Romanian, they are virtuosos and brilliant, every one of them! I don't believe that they"stole" the music from Romanians; Gypsies have a tendency to adopt the music of the people among whom they live and contribute to it. I have a Hungarian background and we appreciate the Hungarian Gypsy bands. In Spain they adopted flamenco, a mixture of different folk music. So what matters is the beauty of the music and the people who produced it!
@SzaboSteven
8 жыл бұрын
+youcanfoolmeonce The gypsies created European music, they brought in the arab rebab and the persian ancestor to the hammer dulcimer the santoor, ie the ancestors of both the violin and the piano, the elements of classical music from rajasthan india. they brought in couple's dances which was banned in medieval europe by the church as immoral but grew during the renaissance to become among others the ancestor of hungarian popular music best preserved today in Kalotaszeg Transylvania. What we think of gypsies adopting local cultures in fact was professional musicians playing in local weddings in the local style far more skillfully than locals and over the centuries it's been proven that their original contribution to european music far exceeded all other european traditions combined in its importance which includes all classical music that wouldn't even exist without its gypsy origins. Gypsies frankly possess the most important musical tradition on the planet without them there would be no classical music nor rockn roll or flamenco or tango.

It sounds like a wedding at a country side in romania :)))
Пікірлер: 3 500

Thank you beautiful musicians-------- from Oklahoma, USA! I honor you!
Incredible band. At concerts they used to continue playing after the concert was finished, in the cafe where their public was enjoying a drink. They made probably more money there than they received from their manager for playing the concert in the theatre.

Exactly because Balkan music and people are connected to Universum and God. Vatican has been trying to hide that we were the oldest civilization and in 2nd dimension. Our ancestors knew a nature better then we do now.
Amazing musicianship with a nonchalant delivery. The sound flows through them and each demonstrate a level of genius.
Sunt roman,dar sarut mana acestot interpreti!Daca si politicieni ar fi atat de virtuosi,dragilor,am fi departe!
@SzaboSteven
