Tara Brach: Sheltering in Love, Part VIII - Finding Freedom in the Midst of Failure

Tara Brach: Sheltering in Love, Part VIII - Finding Freedom in the Midst of Failure [streamed live 05-13-2020]
Everyone faces personal failure, and it’s an extremely raw and painful feeling. If we have the courage to stay with the feelings, failure can become a portal to the realization of who we are beyond the imperfect separate self. This talk calls on Samuel Beckett’s wonderful quote (referenced by Pema Chodron) “Fail, Fail again, Fail better” and offers guidance on finding freedom as we move through some of our most difficult moments.

I've been following Tara Brach since her book, Radical Acceptance, came out. It changed my life and was my first step onto an "awakening path." So, Tara, if you happen on this, you don't know me but you are my original teacher. Thank you! Now, a retired mental health care worker -- a case manager from community mental health services -- these talks have been exactly what I need in these times. Times when I feel such incredible sadness because of how some -- not all but a large number of people -- treat each other. And then I feel my heart respond with anger and resentment, particularly toward some of our nation's leaders here in the US. And then I become worried that in having these strong negative reactive feelings I am becoming "them". So, thank you for all of your teachings, and especially the ones that are helping us/me navigate these strange and unsettling times. I am sending you so much heartfelt gratitude, and love from this 67 year old student whose life you have helped in so many ways! Namaste! 🧘‍♀️💜
