I stared at my broken 4-40 tap in that little hole. Silly me. I should have watched your video prior to my all thumbs approach. Time to fire up the lathe and make those little tools! Thank you so much. Cheers!

I’m going to be drilling and tapping for m3 threads. And I don’t even have a drill press or anything 😕

Talk about being out of my league. Sitting here with my 8/32 tap in hand hoping to tap a less than 1/4" depth hole or spend $500 and just replace something. And I said lets see how this is done. And I came here. So obviously tapping something by hand this small is out of the question.

Not in the least. I tap holes to M3-M6 with a drill all day at work. But where possible I try to do the M3s by hand. It also depends on your material.

I tried to find the video on sharpening taps and I gave up. May I use a drenel? I can destroy even 3/16 taps...

You probably could, but a well dressed sharp fine grinding wheel is easier. Cliff

Very useful video. I didn't understand how the knurled disk applies torque to the round part of the tap if the disk also has a round hole unless its a press fit which could be tricky?

Hi. Sorry I forgot to mention a set or grub screw is used to grip on the shank. Cheers. Cliff.
