That noise on the answering machine tape is the digital code to tell the machine the date and time of the message. If you put the tape into a multi track tape player you could isolate the noise and the actual message. But regardless. Cool video, now i want a variable speed tape player.

There’s a really fascinating temporal aspect to this kind of music. The idea of setting up music that is completely tethered to the speed of playback, then altering it with different recordings at different speeds to achieve different pitches is a really fascinating premise. Imagine what you could do if you had two of them, and recorded them back and forth at different speeds to get slower and slower or faster and faster samples. I also like how destructive it is. When you’re working in a software suite like ableton, you can make a copy of your sample and keep it forever. If you only have like two tapes, that’s all the recording real estate you have. It has to breed some pretty creative solutions to problems.

Maybe if someone knows what person with that black hair on the jacket that is we can find the place to buy it. Like there are some patches on the jacket where you see like anime hair or something and if you know who that is you know where to buy it...

We complain when a laptop takes 30 seconds to boot up. We used to wait patiently for cassettes to rewind. I don’t remember being stressed at how long it took. How things change. It was better before in many ways. We are expected to crank out so much more now. Does it make us happier to do things in less time? No. So what’s the rush. Thanks for your cool videos. Honesty is the best. Ego,is the worst.

absolutely. making music with tape loops and cassettes is definitely slower and requires more patience, but its tactile and has its limitation. as someone who sits in front of a computer all day, it's nice to create music without a screen and be more hands on
