From this video I learned that cheap Chinese scooters are great for learning repair skills but they are awful for reliable transportation. Great example of how cost cutting in mass manufacturing can reach such an extreme that the resulting products are hardly worth buying. Unless you want a disposable vehicle (or a money pit) you are better off buying a Honda, Yamaha or even a Taiwanese Kymco

Replacing these carbs with aftermarket is a must. The stock carb is jetted way too lean to meet CA emissions standards as cheaply as possible. It's lean enough to be detrimental to the engine over time, especially on 87 octane.

While I do agree that an aftermarket carburetor, with properly tuned jetting. Is a very welcomed improvement over the original. Sorry to say but any assumption that the machine won't run. BECAUSE it has the original carb, is nothing but ridiculous! Really basic logic will tell anyone. That at minimum, all things being equal. It will have to run exactly as it came from the factory! No more, but surely no less! With this said, the entire point is that nothing in these machines original design is supposed to have them "strangled" to 45km/h. Their original project was for a normal full power running engine, as it still happens in several markets, inclusive China! Proof of that is precisely in this video. Where the engine was running quite well in the beginning, with the original carb. But was totally messed up by the end of the video with the new carb (clogged)!

The problem with cheap Chinese clone bikes is you have nine different things go wrong all at the same time. They just take too many shortcuts with quality. I'm impressed how well you did getting it running with no experience. If you ever see a starter flopping all around like that you know you have a problem. You're better off finding a project Honda or Yamaha to work on. Once you get it fixed up it'll actually be worth something.

servicing these carbs, super easy, douche it with carb cleaner, then blow it out, let it dry. generally that fixes most issues. always replace the fuel lines if you're going that far, and make sure there's no kinks, that's a common problem with these, use high quality hose. "performance carbs are barely worth bothering with, just replace with closest to OEM, with a filter kit, they kind of help, but only if you've removed the restrictors. If you get the $30-$40 better big bore kit, the 80cc is much less pain in the ass, then you'll get a boost from a performance carb. have someone make a pipe for you, unless it's a 2 stroke, they're incredibly simple, I say "make", bc the aftermarket chinese shit pipes rust away fast af.

Mines bogging down... but seems to change when I mess with the battery terminal. It doesn't seem to have a strong connection.

Next time, if you don't want to stomp the kick starter 100 times, apply some vacuum (sucking on a rubber hose is fine) to the vacuum operated petcock. That will open the petcock allow the carburetor bowl to fill with gas.

He changed the carburetor and fuel filter. There was rust in the filter and fuel. Check the tank and filter for rust. Old gas will rust out the tank.

You shouldn't fire that up without the case. Cover on the starter fits into a slotif you noticed when you tried to start it. It was fobbling all over the placethat's because it goes into a sloth on the case cover

I'm on my ninth scooter. My kick-start broke one time. And while I was riding it broke my drive belt and I was stranded. I don't like the kickstarter's at all. If I have to kick start it I don't want it

Same scooter TaoTao 2020 Bad electric starter & now I’ve wore out my kick starter. I tried to just rebuild it using my old parts. And my slip-ring/clip wants to keep popping off now. I’m try to bend it closer together & re-use it again one more time. But, after 3rd. time of pulling my cvt cover. All by hand ratchet. I’m about to just order parts pre assembled. SMH 😅🔧🛠👨‍🔧

Honestly the parts for these scooters are so cheap that unless in an emergency. There's no justifications to make shift. In what otherwise can be a perfectly working machine! Ebay, Amazon, etc. are your best friends to find parts!

@@crpth1 I have gotten the kick starter to work again. Bending the clip tightly together worked. 3rd. time a charm. Well maybe one more time to upgrade more cvt goodies as soon as they come in the mail. Thanks for-sure have been ordering stuff to.
