Another excellent tutorial episode. I continue to be amazed that you can handle the brittle paper multiple times and it stays intact. While it may be copyrighted, your T-shirt idea is great - it could say " Stay Calm and Rinse ". Always dismiss your critics, John Wayne had a strong saying about them - " Life is hard, its harder if you're stupid", a blunt ideology, however sometimes it is necessary to be blunt. Anxiously staying tuned for the next episode.

This is the most relaxing video to watch on a Monday morning. This really is an art that you are practicing and it is a joy to watch such a lovely book be preserved/conserved. I have been following along for the past couple of videos and the main splash page you have been working on gave me a sense of déjà vu and it finally clicked. The splash page of Flash #78 is reminiscent to the cover of House of Mystery #147 (Dec 1964). The similarities to the floating masks is remarkable - I would guess that Joe Certa the cover artist (HoM #147) must have read Flash Comics #78 when he was younger. Keep up the beautiful work and thanks for showing and patiently describing the process and effort that goes into this artistic passion.

The furniture glass panels have multiple properties I value. They are water proof, they are relatively smooth, they are thicker panels, relatively heavy, they are harder to break, and if they do break it is into bigger pieces and not small shards. They also make a pretty good cold press even without adding anything for weight. A couple of nice used coffee table books (oversized) also makes a good weight on top of the glass, and is less likely to scratch the glass.

Thank you for this great upload, Jerry. Am I right seeing the Chloramine T fully dissolved in the water (unlike the calcium hydroxide). And are you using cold or hot water for the water bath? I’ve been using hot water for faster chemical reactions on deacidifying and lightening the paper color.
@jerrythejitterbugcomicbook4098
Жыл бұрын
Thank you Peter. For the bath I am using cold water. The Cloramine T dissolves in the cold water completely in my experience. The calcium hydroxide needs hot water to dissolve. I do not use hot water from the tank because of the impurities that may result from the hot water heater. I boil cold water if I need heat.
