Well written song...actually felt this in the pit of my stomach. Reminded me of a Tracy Chapman song from back in the day. Tanner is going to have one hell of a career with or without Nashville's "help".

My lord I have loved Tanner's music for a minute now. This is an example of his gift with words. Another one by him that hits hard every time is "Come Back Down"

I've known Tanner for many years. I actually used to book for The Usrey Brother's. I have watched Tanner grow as an artist so much in the past 8 yrs. So proud of him and happy to see him following his dream.

Tanner is a very close friend of mine and I attend many of his shows and this song right here quiets a crowd. They shut up and listen. Addiction is a real thing that many people go through. Hits you right in the feels. Pronounced Us Ree.

This is a good song all around. The lyrics, music, and soulful heartfelt expressive vocals. Very powerful. The one thing that sticks out for me. True story or not, there are so many Josephines out there. So many that can't find a way out. So many that think I'll quit soon. They then die in there addiction before they get out. The tragedy is, many of them have had brief times of recovery. Days, months, years even inside recovery groups. Some are surrounded by loving sober clean friends that they could turn to but they decide to try it just one more time. I have been to too many funerals of folks that died of substance abuse but at one time enjoyed clean sobriety. It's very sad.

He puts this song in the middle during his 2 or 3 acoustic part while the rest of the band takes a break. Great great guy.....

I'm sorry to hear that Marlene. I've been in it and now out for 10 yrs. I've watched both my childen struggle with meth and alcohol. I understand what your going through. No one can force anyone to quit. We each make our own choices. It isn't your fault. Sometimes we blame ourselves but that is not a truth. Keep loving her as you can. Keep praying for her. Ultimately the choice has to be hers. I am sorry you're going through this.

@Marlene McKinney I am so sorry you are dealing with that with your girl. Whatever you're going through, you've always got a home here to give you a little break, and from other people who have commented about their families, there are folks who feel for you and understand what you're going through.

Have you thought about doing a country tournament? Maybe get 2 Red Dirt songs vs 2 Nashville songs then the winners advance to a final round (with different songs from the winning artist).

Good idea but doesn't seem fair. Its basically like taking two semi-pro fighters and putting them against two pretty boys who play fighters in the movies. Never mind...I'm in! :-)

@Colby Sikes and @ Karyn Maddox and @David Emswiler What David said, and what Karyn said. Not only wouldn't it be close, but people would be pissed at me for bringing pop stuff here. There is some music coming out of Nashville that I like, but if I put anyone other than Alan Jackson up against the likes of John Prine or Jason Isbell, it's gonna be ugly. And even then the comments might not be that nice. So for the sake of humanity I'll leave that one alone.

@@RockN2Country Fair enough. What about just 4 Red Dirt Artist you're not familiar with? That way there is no bias going into it.

Do "HAPPY PLACE" by Clayton Smalley to off set these past two songs. Thanks Don. I know Mo Pitney has a hard time singing "JUST A DOG" in many concerts because it is just too sad. People are there to be happy.
