To think tanks were such a scary sight in WW1. A metal fortress that seemed invincible. But now we’ve got a vast dedicated arsenal that renders a number of them as scrap metal for cover of troops.

the tank in ww1 was terrifying, no one up to that point had seen a metal machine like that, however most either broke down, or were torn to shreds by armor piercing maching gun rounds, not to mention a well thrown grenade could blow up the British tanks if they landed where the exhaust pipes are plus the Germans repurposed a 75mm artillery gun and used it as an anti tank weapon not to mention anti tank rifles and anti tank grenades, some were also unlucky enough to have a artillery round land on top of them but they were effective enough after the first use of them where the British government ordered 2000 of them and in 1917 3 British tanks and 3 German av-7 tanks met on the battlefield thus the first tank battle was fought

Bovington will soon have another great attraction of a tank, their FV4005 "SPUD" is currently undergoing restoration, which will see it get the original Centurion Mk3 hull, and will be made to be as accurate as possible to its 1950's condition. There were 3 FV4005's ever built (1 FV4005 Stage 1, 2 FV4005 Stage 2's) but only 1 was ever reassembled using a Centurion Mk12 hull, and sat as a gate guard, a static vehicle since 2008, but come Tank Fest later this year, it will be ready to be shown off, where it will look as it did when it was first built, and most importantly, it will be operational, driving under its own power for the first time on 70 years.

I'm not sure if anyone here has played "Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge". I wonder if the Allied Battle Fortress from that same game was developed -- in concept -- from the Bob Semple Tank. If you look at the model of the Battle Fortress: particularly the position of its gun ports, they seem strikingly similar to that of the gun positions on the Bob Semple Tank. But this is a completely superficial observation on my part: no research, just a mere spectacle of curiosity; I'm just curious if anyone notices the similarity, like I do.

Also, forgot to say but I think Battle Fortress concept doesn't fit with Bob Semple tank which ideally infantry support vehicle but from early-version IFV Bradley ideally for transporting infantry to the frontline while be able to defend the transport midway. While I did watch GreenElf with RA2 units firefight, that one specifically I haven't. Also, still have the game around and playing the modded version. In real life, there's no Soviet Warminer equivalent of 'armed mining vehicle' but you could argue that there are things like utility vehicles like trucks & transport helicopters have MG as self-defense/infantry support.

I think it's unfair to call them domb, afaik the parachutes failed to deploy and those aid packages basically became kinetic unguided munitions

What would a land cruiser designed today look like, I wonder. No reason to ever build one but... It'd be kinda cool to see the modern thought process to that. Lighten things up where necessary with autoloaders and modern armor, run it on nuclear or something, throw in one of those naval rail guns...
