one of my favorite things about Tangled was that there were no undying promises of love after a day of meeting. i found the whole " you were my new dream" and "did i ever tell you i have a thing for brunettes" so cute and it was more of a happy beginning to a cute romance rather than like most movies calling it true love and all that shit. and even at the end we get to know that they got married after many happy years. that was my favorite

I hate it when people say Flynn cut her hair too short. Yes, realistically, he was stabbed and had to cut her hair fast but it was also symbolic that Flynn saw Rapunzel for her good heart and loving nature not her magical hair (which is also furthered by parts throughout the movie of Flynn moving Rapunzel's hair out of her face when he kisses her etc contrasted to Mother Gothel kissing Rapunzel's hair, calling her flower etc). Even at the end, Rapunzel is loved by all because of her pure sweetness. If her hair were longer and more stylish, I would argue that it kind of takes away this message that being loving is enough to help people and be loved.

The people saying it's too short are people who know how important hair can be to a woman, so they simply express empathy knowing how they'd feel if someone cut their hair and it would never grow back. Regardless of the length he cut it, the magic would fade and her hair would turn brown. It wouldn't take away from the fact that what matters most is how kind and caring she is. The message wouldn't have been lost if he cut it a bit longer.

What I love about Flynn Rider aka Eugene Fitzherbert, is in the end, it wasn't Rapunzel who changed Flynn. Flynn became Eugene, became a better person, because HE wanted to be that better person FOR Rapunzel. And that's really how it should always work. And it's WHY they have such a strong relationship-which is seen in Tangled the Series. They have their problems, sure. But he listens to her fears, her doubts, and tries to alleviate them. He comforts her, he allows himself to be comforted. They help and support each other. Out of all the Disney couples in their lineup, honestly Eugene and Rapunzel are the realest of the bunch, and should be what people aspire for when it comes to "couple goals".

Notice the difference between Gothel's "love" for Rapunzel and Eugene's genuine love for her? Whenever Gothel is talking to Rapunzel, especially when she talks about how much she loves her, she's always stroking and/or kissing Rapunzel's hair, which is meant to show that she's saying "I love you (most)" to Rapunzel's hair instead of to Rapunzel herself. On the other hand, once Eugene realises he's fallen in love with Rapunzel, he's always brushing her hair away from her face, signifying the hair and its magic don't mean nearly as much to him as she herself does.

This is true, but think about it, she healed him. The concussions got healed when she healed his hand. Literally every severe wound he got (other than the punch from Max in the ribs and the unseen knock out when he got tied to the ship) was before she healed his hand.

The original story was that Rapunzel’s tears restored the Prince’s eyes when when they fell into his as he was blinded by thorns. But instead of such a visually painful scene that is less bearable to imagine, the explicitness of a stab wound healed by the magic tear was better for kids at least😅

Disney always does well on their music but there were literally no bad songs in this film. I also liked the dynamic between Rapunzel and Flynn better than most Disney couples. I also loved that it showed not all villains are just outright evil, she seemed to care about her but was emotional abusive and gaslit her constantly

I’d suggest you rewatch Tangled or watch a video about Gothel or how gaslighting and manipulation works. She didn’t love Rapunzel as a person, only her hair. It even confirmed she hardly spent any time with her either aside whenever she needed her hair. Legit Gothel is probably my 3rd favorite Disney villain because of how manipulative yet chilling and truly terrifying she is. But I completely agree about Rapunzel and Flynn’s relationship growth being the best of the Disney couples. Legit nearly EVERY Disney couple before, their love came from their beauty before it was about their personality or how they were similar In struggles. Legit the only 2 I could think of that don’t have this problem is Pocahontas and John Smith because while they were definitely attracted by their looks, it was ultimately because of how different they were physically, heck Pocahontas even ran away the first time he tried to get closer because she was frightened he was going to kill her. Other one is Tarzan and Jane. He didn’t even know other humans existed, and was immediately drawn to how Jane looked exactly like him, and he finally wasn’t the black sheep gorilla cub anymore. And he simply showed her so much of his world she chose to give up her fancy life in London just to be wild and free with him. But Rapunzel and Flynn have such a sweet yet hilarious relationship, and it felt real and genuine to the point I was so mad they didn’t kiss on the boat. Legit that’s the only problem with I See the Light.

No, Mother Gothel was pure evil. She kidnapped a child because that child had magic hair. Any compliments she gives Rapunzel are actually to her hair. She calls her "Flower." When she caresses Rapunzel, she runs her hands through her hair. She doesn't care at all about Rapunzel. Only her hair.

In addition to being pigeon-footed, Rapunzel also has crossed eyes, an overbite and a lisp. It's all done so subtly that most people don't consciously notice, but subconsciously, she feels more like a real person than if she were model perfect.

I love how enamoured Dylan was with this film from the very start. He was so hooked on the story of the prologue and the delight never stopped.

She's a manipulative narcissist, and doesn't even think of Rapunzel as a person is more like a object, it's her flower she is her flower. So she didn't even bother to change her name and birthday because she never thought of her as a person in fact she was probably begged by the daughter to know her name after the woman kept calling her a bunch of different pet names... she calls her -dear- pet -flower, probably kid and child. So as a kid Rapunzel probably asked which one it was.

They didn't have another kid because the mom literally almost died having Rapunzel

Totally agree. As time has passed I've cared less and less about Frozen actually. But Tangled is something I just find myself liking more and more with each passing day. Tangled is still on my top 10 Disney List. It's actually quite high up. Frozen went off the spectrum entirely.

Tangled is easily one of my favorite Disney movies. Flynn Lowkey being the most handsome guy in all of Disney movies, the music was absolute chefs kiss, and don't even get me started on Rapunzel after she cut her hair, I legit turned gay for a second after seeing her with short brown hair.

There’s one thing missing from recent Disney movies that tangled and Aladdin just nailed… and that’s bromance: Aladdin and Abu and Flynn and Maximus. Newer movies just try and make either romantic male relationships, or toxic ones, and it just doesn’t work😂😂

I just want to say thanks to Dylan for bringing attention to how some mother's treat their kids. I know it was off-hand and brief but this movie does a disturbingly good job of showing what emotional abuse is like. I'm glad he mentioned it

literally when I watched this movie with my family my mom was mad because they made mother Gothel so evil and how dare they yada yada. when she goes "great now im the bad guy" My mom was so mad, she was like "Look! this is what you do to me!" im like mum she's literally the villain sit your ass down

I got caught up once after I subscribed and watched his new video the day it was uploaded. He said his casual "welcome to movie commentary Monday" and I was so confused because it was **definitely.** **not.** **Monday.** Made me doubt my calendar skills for a second.

Hey Dylan! If you liked Tangled, I would highly recommend watching the movie Anastasia (1997)! I swear, Dimitri and Anya from the movie are just like Flynn Rider and Rapunzel, except with more adventure and a lot more scheming! The songs are great as well, especially the villain’s song in the movie! Just thought I would recommend it! Love your videos!

tangled is one of my favorite movies ever so i am sooo happy that dylan actually loved this one. he got so invested in it and couldn't really find too much to make fun of which i loved.

It's always the smallest things who make the biggest difference

The most amazing thing about this movie is the play of light. In the happy scenes, the light is pleasant and warm, and the further you go and the action becomes sadder or more serious, the light fades slowly.

26:35 Put yourself in their shoes. You'd be so happy in that moment that you would hug EVERYONE close to you. I mean, a police officer brings a missed kid back to their parents, pretty sure there have been many hugs.

Cool thing I realised: Whenever Mother Gothel say’s “l love you” she’s saying it into Rapunzel’s hair or when she kisses her on the forehead she kisses her hair. Flynn on the other hand is constantly brushing the hair out of Rapunzel’s face showing that he loves _her_ , not her hair.

Seven AM the usual morning line up, start on the chores and sweep till the floors all clean! Polish and wax, do laundry mop and shine up! Sweep again and by then it's like seven fifteen! I'm sure out of the 20,000 comments here someone has already explained this, but 15:12 when you talk about Tarzan, yes there was a theory that related Tarzan to Tangled but it has been disproven since Frozen II came out. It went like this: Rapunzel's real mother (the queen) and Elsa/Anna's mother are sisters, making Rapunzel the cousin of Elsa and Anna. This hasn't been disproven yet, and is likely true since we see Rapunzel and Flynn for a split second in Frozen I. The theory was that Elsa and Anna's parents actually survived the shipwreck and landed on an island, where the mom gave birth to Tarzan, and then died shortly after due to lions I think? (i forget how it was explained that Tarzan's parents died) So the theory was that Tarzan was Elsa and Anna's long lost brother, making Tarzan Rapunzel's cousin as well. Frozen II disproves this, though, since they find the ship their parents wrecked in and it was revealed they died on the ship I believe. But the theory of Rapunzel being Elsa/Anna's cousin still remains.

The title for this should be “Dylan falling in love with Flynn Ryder for 28 minutes and 2 seconds”

@@parksophie8854 they probably would’ve found her a suitor to take over more tbh. But who knows, Queens have had sole rule in the past. It is endearing to see they weren’t desperate for a male ruler though, especially since she’s proven she can be capable of many things.

you should watch the series! it really goes more into their characters and introduces some new interesting characters. if you thought eugene, the name the orphanage gave gim, was dumb, wait until you hear what his parents gave him as a birthname...

I wish I could see how many times I've watched this video lol. This video was my comfort video for a while when I was going through something tough. I would fall asleep to it. Thank you for being on the internet and doing what you do.

There was a great post on Tumblr from someone justifying why they think Flynn Rider is the strongest Disney Prince. Strong? Yeah. Sturdy? With no doubt.

Honestly, I don't get the hype around Frozen at all. Such a boring story with nothing to offer other than Olaf and beautiful visuals. Brave on the other hand is incredibly underappreciated! Gorgeous film
