Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Keith and Jesse back at the bench! Today we are taking this awesome old school RC from Radio Shack, and bring it up to speed with some new modern components. We are stripping out all the old electronics (except the motor), and recycling our old esc/receiver combo from our Axial Yeti Jr. CAN AM build. also will be using a SAVOX servo we had laying around the shop to spruce up the steering. We hope you enjoy, and stay tuned for more great RC builds!

@@ProNoobRC Yeah I know what you mean, I used to have one of these in blue and I remember driving it and the water cause it would kind of float with those tires but I ended up killing it from being in the water...... And I just recently built a Tamyia Grasshopper that I bought about 5 years ago because that was the 1st hobby quality RC car I ever owned and just taking the parts of the box I realized that it seems so small now compared to what it was when I was a kid. Out of the 6 or 7 RC cars I have one is a radio controlled Kei trucks and the grasshopper isn't that much bigger than it.

I’m really close to the same story. My first RC was the yellow version, second was the Tamiya frog buggy, Then came the RC10. Honestly the yellow truck was the toughest out of them. I beat the crap out of that thing. It never broke. Just realized this is a year old post 🤦🏼♂️

Just wait!! More awesome conversions from our childhood are coming up!!
I had one of the yellow ones when I was little. I loved that thing
I had this! A yellow one. I made about a 100 ft long rubber band chain and tied it to the bumper, then I pulled the truck back about 500 ft, and let it go, hahaha. It came ripping at the house at about 75 mph and slammed into the brick on the house, lol. And no more truck.
Sweet resurrection of an old toy (not for children) grade RC into something much better. Looks like a lot of fun. My vote is for the blue one to keep original but that’s probably because I had the blue one many years ago and you are right, there were never enough batteries around to keep them going🤣. Nice work.
Love all the comments here this was my first truck to yellow!! So cool. Miss radio Shacks lol. Bought one on eBay but haven’t done anything with it. Kinda wanna get it out now.

Great build! I love the idea of modifying old toy-grade RCs into hobby-grade ones but I would also love to turn non RC cars and trucks into hobby-grade RCs on a budget. Any advice on parts or kits that I can use for a range of 28th scale to as large as 24th scale (on a budget). I know of several options for 18th scale or larger but they won't fit into the vehicles I'm thinking of. I'm hoping to find a DIY package that includes everything but the vehicle itself. Any advice?

Gears aren’t gonna last long driving like that on 2s. There is a lot of play in the two speed gear box on these making them more susceptible to stripping. Also the 4 c batteries are what give the truck a lower center of gravity and better traction off road.
