Tamiya Super Avante Unboxing

Tamiya’s designers have crafted the next fun to drive, 4WD off-road buggy, the Super Avante! The body comes in the form of a re-imagined Avante. It even shares the fun rear wing moniker, “Being Nuts is Neat!” And, the front of the all-new TD-4 chassis, shares a front horizontal damper layout design, similar to the original Avante, except, this time around, the front dampers are underneath the body. The stylish body was designed by Kota Nezu, who has contributed to a number of popular Tamiya products.
Features:
• 1/10 R/C assembly kit. Length: 338mm, height: 124mm, width: 246mm. Wheelbase: 283mm.
• Polycarbonate body (inspired by the Tamiya classic, Avante) is designed by Japanese designer Kota Nezu of Znug Design.
• Newly designed shaft-driven 4WD chassis based on a one-piece monocoque frame. It features the same ball differentials for front and rear, and features a longitudinal battery pack position in the center and a midship transverse motor for optimum balance and improved performance.
• The TD4 chassis also employs a front inboard suspension layout which eliminates the need for a front damper stay and offers slim, low-profile form.
• The four-wheel double wishbone suspension system uses CVA oil dampers for fun performance.
• Features full ball bearings.
• Two link rods and crank arm transmit movement of the left-side servo to the three-piece steering arm setup.
• Turnbuckle shafts for use with upper arms facilitate camber angle adjustment.
• Star dish wheels are paired with square spike tires which offer good grip off-road.
• Choose between high and low type wing stays to adjust the downforce depending on the road surface.
• Comes with a driver figure for extra realism, and high-torque servo saver.
• Requires: 2-channel radio, steering servo, ESC, 540-size motor, 7.2-7.4volt battery with compatible charger, and Tamiya PS paint to complete.
In this video we open the box and show you what the First Try Kit has in store!

I think this buggy is going to be so much better than people might expect. I think it will go down in Tamiya history as a real gem. It's design, which may have divided opinion is super. Even details that we first may not notice, like the low profile front end. I think they should have called it the Kaizen (continuous improvement in Japanese) as that is what it is really. It is such a departure from Tamiya design and I can see why some don't like the Avante name being used on this buggy. I am surprised by the price and then the price for option parts. Option parts alone can quickly reach double figures. The 'essentials' could get us to over £200 or $275 and that is a lot of money don't you think? Especially considering the price of the kit, which is not cheap. Thank you for the video. I'm looking forward to more.

BEING NUTS IS NEAT but it drives me nuts that Tamiya didn't create a new wheel especially for this car. The old wheels really let this thing down.

Hmmm - Classic Tamiya packaging would be nice blister packs, like the early kits right? For the price of kit ESC and Motor should be included.

Correct. Most of our upper level kits don't come with an ESC or motor - this would be one of those.

Most people won't use the Tamiya ESC or motor in higher end kits - they want to use their own electronics or something better. That being said, not including them also helps keep the price down.

really looking forward to getting and building this kit but as a huge Tamiya fan that packaging is a major let down for me and most Tamiya fans.. having used the Avante name it really should of come with blister packs and not this standard generic Tamiya box layout.. the packaging is a major part of the build experience,Tamiya knows better than this!

While that's true - the blister pack setup would be a nod to the original - that type of packaging also costs more to produce. I'm guessing that would cause a rise in kit pricing as well. Just a thought.
