If I recall the Yokomo 4wd cars and Associated RC10 2wd cars dominated the off-road scene in 1989 and Tamiya's Avante was not well received on the racing scene. However, the Avante was a fun car to own and drive - I loved mine.

I am really interested in buying the super avante but struggling to find Motor, ESC, Servo (low profile) that are good and fit. Ideally two list of readily available parts one less expensive and one more expensive.

The TD4 looks to be a very competent chassis with plenty on tuning options for the more serious buggy enthusiasts. Upgrading the plastic parts to fibre infused plastic parts seems that Tamiya are trying to compete with the Arrma’s. Looks good in the eye catching yellow and blue. Great informative video.

That spur gear info is all wrong. Firstly, there's not such thing as "metric 48" - it is a 0.6mm module, which is quite far away from 48 pitch (roughly 0.53mm) and this misnomer could confuse people. 0.4mm you mention is identical to 64pitch. It's quite sad to see this in an official video. Edit: did I hear right Liquid-Polymer battery? Are you serious?

The little things matter , this was a poor explanation of the car by someone who appears to be ill informed and is more like someone reading a terrible script . As for the car , it's way over priced compared to competition and I suspect will be outpaced by the competition. Another kit for tamiya fans rather than RC fans . All the TRF experience appears to have been ignored . I haven't driven a td4 and the more I see of it the less I want it . Why not work with the competitive db01 and revise its known issues , persuing this as an option would give tamiya and end users far more wins and way more smiles. Allen drivers to remove batteries indeed .

This new chassis is definitely for parking lot/park bashing.. it’s just to bring back the name with some unique features. People have been asking Tamiya to revise older good chassis but they always completely ignore. This chassis is cool though, a Lipo with a brushless setup and the smallest pinion, it’ll sure be fun after some tweaks to the suspension and possibly some tires. For the average person that is.
