So glad to see someone working on one of these! A coworker gave me the same truck, not in as great of shape mind you.. but I’ve taken it apart and now am trying to decide what if anything should be upgraded or changed on the chassis. The bodies quite good which is nice. I’ll be watching to see what you do with it!!

Taking inspiration from your hybrid Mad Rabbit build, why not try a Thunder Blitzer build? Black bumper, lower skirts, rear rack and spoiler with an orange main body and selected Blitzer decals. Black or orange wheels could set it off nicely. Or since it has those nice red gearbox pieces, a Clod Buster tribute? Nice red body, silver/white highlights but unlike the Clod Buster it'd go like stink.

Great looking car. Paint this one up to show us the finished product , go all out and dont cheapskate the paint. Then once you have made that video swap the body and wheels with someone for the blitzer beetle body painting and running video. Either way im jealous of that car👍

Hi Awesome to see an original model in so good shape I just found my original Stadium thunder from the late 90's in my parents house. Just swapped out the original electronics to brushless and new esc. This adds quite a lot more power so I was wondering which kind of grease or other solution for the gearbox you (or anyone who reads this) can recommend. Does not have to be original Tamiya, maybe some stuff you can just pick up in your local hobby/hardware shop. Thanks in advance.

Yeah box art, my mate has one & looks great with lame flake before the black. (Or did you do it already?) Here's an idea. As its a bullet proof chassis & gear box like you say, you could speed run it on all the same motors as the TA05 see what it does! You might need a GPM lunchbox wheelie bar though (bolts straight on) lol.

I also think you should go box art because its vintage?? The blitzer beetle body is awesome but maybe a blitzer for another project???

Am I alone on wanting to build an RC car and NOT paint the shell? I mean, cut it out of course so that it can be mounted properly and apply all the decals but leave it completely clear with no paint so that all its inner workings can be seen...I feel like that would look pretty cool, lol. Anyway, congrats on the RC and can't wait to see what you do with it!

I think the Stadium Thunder decals and matching wheel colour looks excellent, one of Tamiya's better efforts, but how about a slightly different colour. I'm not nostalgic about mechanical speedos so I'd be putting in some modern electrics. Then run the thing! You know the saying, these boots were made for walking......well these buggies (trucks?) were made for bashing :-)

What really surprised me when I did mine was that there was no yellow sticker for the front bumper. Wasn't too chuffed considering everything else on the car is black and you're supposed to buy extra paint just for that small bumper part. Could be wrong, but I think on the original from 96 had a sticker for the bumper as well. Oh, didn't the Stadium Blitzer come out earlier? I think on the Thunder they just reused the shell from the Dyna Blaster. EDIT: Nope, on the original you had to paint the front as well. EDIT2: Prob should watch the whole vid before commenting 😅

Always considered doing a poor man's Dyna Blaster as I really like the look of it. It's just all a bit messy as you'd have to use short front axles for the wheels and then the with is different front and rear.

Have you tried the DT02 turnbuckles set on these trucks? I've heard they are a direct fit pretty much.

I'm looking for some advice on what to do with my Stadium Thunder? Its been in storage for over 20 years, still in very good condition (after dusting it off, originally I didn't use it much after building it). I bought a new battery, charged it and it runs like it did before I put it in storage, now I'm thinking do I put an ESC on it, which ESC will work with the black sports-tuned motor...

Can you get a blitzer beetle body and and customized factory style decals made that have the orange changed to flouro yellow to match the stadium thunder wheels. If so ill buy a set too.

I was able to find alloy wheels for my blitzer my only gripe is the stock rear tyres they only lasted one run so i got some hpi belted rear tyres A run on 3's kzread.info/dash/bejne/oX6ckpaqqbOokag.html
