    Hi Addam! Well now, as I said on the last video you have given the Pajero the look it SHOULD have had from the factory! It looks darn excellent in that glossy red coat, too! Good job with the paint detailing, way better than using the stickers. The ST motor seems perfectly suited to this chassis with plenty of punch and enough top speed. Seemed to ride pretty well on that terrain, I can see your smile from here! 😁👌👍

    Thanks Mark, it looks great now and was a super fun run. These CW01 chassis kits are so much fun and always bring a smile to my face. The bit more torque and speed is nice to get the wheels up quickly but as you saw it can leave you stranded on the rear end! That made me laugh!! Take care and have a wonderful week!

    Hey Addam ‘skipping leg day’? I think I’ve been having a ‘skipping leg weeks’! 😂😂😊😊 been doing 8am to 8pm and been absolutely ‘knackered’ ! 😊😊 finally finished doing that and returning hopefully to some normal working days 🤔🧐 loved the Pajero, that TS8 red really does ‘pop’ ! I’ve used that on a couple of my models. I know the effort of painting the bumpers etc, does take longer and you have a lot more masking up, but it pays dividends, as it looks so much better than decals. I’ve been doing the trim, bumper etc…in paint on most of my Lexan shells too, take ages, but so much better and worth the effort. So glad you got to run the Pajero, it just so happens I’m trying to do a Lexan Lunchbox shell, so I can run my Lunchbox…I don’t want to damage the hard body 😂😂😊😊anyway, excellent job, keep up the great work. Take care and best wishes to you all 😊😊😎😎Happy Easter 😊😊

Most of the time I don't mind painting the details but for some reason painting has been a struggle for me lately, just hard to get motivated on it. I look forward to seeing you get out with the lunch box, they are so much fun to drive! Take care my friend and I hope you get some rest and some fun stuff in this weekend!! Happy Easter!

    Yeah, anything under there to fill it out more than the skinny things it came with. I am starting to think Tamiya has a large supply of these tires and they are just sticking them on kits to get rid of them! LOL! They are about as soft as the plastic bushings are! Some Sand Blasters would look cool under it or even some of the Pirelli slicks too! I still need to get a set of those to have on hand!

    I have seen pictures of the car with the small tires. It's not only a terrible look, and it wouldn't be as much fun to drive. The red looks great. Certain bodies seem to need a bright color and this is one. As I was watching your run around the yard I was thinking of r/c rally races that you see in Europe and the UK. As you probably know, they follow their cars around a layout. What id you had a rally type competition, but it was restricted to cars with the CW-01 chassis? There would be a lot of smiles, laughing and good natured kidding.

  • @AddamsPlayground

    @AddamsPlayground

    Yeah, when you compare the two widths I feel like the stock tires would make it much more tippy and you would either have to go super slow in the turns or spend a lot of time walking to go flip it back over. For the rally layout I think the car is more agile than I would be! It would be kind of fun for an all CW01 challenge, rally or otherwise. I may have to think about that and see what I can come up with!

    LOL, I think the only way to get them nice and soft and get lots of grip is to run them while they are on fire! Yes were are in spring here for sure. A bit colder this week but things are budding an blowing all over! It will be full blown pollen-palooza here very soon!

    They say a tenth scale but rc scale isn't as accurate as they make out because it looks ridiculous I've never seen a land rover defender, bronco, hilux or even a land cruiser come out stock with 1.2 metere tyre's a scale wheel would be 80 millimetres at best and that would look ridiculous objective of rc is to make them awesome not perfect that looks awesome now with the lunch box wheels and tyre's another great build mate turned out incredible 👊

  • @AddamsPlayground

    I think scale has gotten a bit out of hand these days, we have everything from 1/64 up to 1/4 scale and not very many are true to the real life version in some way or another. At this point 1/10 seems to contain everything from 1/8 to 1/12 easily if not a bit broader. I have never taken it too seriously as the the Blackfoot and the Monster Beetle are both 1/10 scale kits but the body on the MB is much bigger in scale than the Ford body on the Blackfoot so they have been generalizing them for decades! LOL It does look a lot more fun and happy with the bigger wheels and tires on it now. It was a blast to drive and I always have a smile on my face with the CW01 kits, always a lot of fun!

    It is a fun little truck and looks pretty cool as well. I was intending on trying it one the stock tires but I had them on it and I sat there at my desk staring and pondering the look of them and I started getting annoyed and grumpy at it. I was not a fan to start with and sitting there I became more and more annoyed with the small and awkward look of them on there. So long story short, the tiny tires immediately came off, the new front axles went on and the big tires are now the forever tires for it. performance wise I can only guess they are not as good as they have very little give to them and the truck is much narrower with them on it so I would assume rolling in corners is going to be an issue and a harsher ride due to the solid rubber tire feel they have.

  • @AddamsPlayground

    @AddamsPlayground

    3 ай бұрын

    No problem it get asks fairly regularly so no worries! They are foam yoga blocks that I cut in half on my bandsaw. I order them from Amazon and you can usually find them for $15-20 for a pair of them and once I cut them in half it is a good deal for 4 stands for 15ish dollars. For the buggies I cut them on an angle so the kind of lean towards you to see the bodies more. For the trucks just right in half works great. I have cuts some into 3rds for the buggies in the bookcase to just keep the tires up in the air. You can cut them with a fine toothed blade like a hacksaw or even one of the extendable razor knives but be very careful with that! Those breakaway blades can be a bit sketchy extended out real far. Just make a lot of passes with it cutting into it about 1/2 inch or so at a time. Put the cut edges down and it should work out great.

    Does the kit oil shocks work better than the lunchbox friction dampers?

  • @AddamsPlayground

    @AddamsPlayground

    3 ай бұрын

    Yes and no honestly. The oil dampers do keep it from taking the odd bounces and weird redirections away from it compared to the frication dampers. They also seem to help smooth it out in the turns and keep it a bit more stable when turning. However they do take away some of the fun bouncing and slap wheelies you can do with the friction dampers. It also dives a bit more in the turns so occasionally you will get body rubbing and occasionally will cause it to grab and flip in the corners. When backing up the front end tends to spread out and drag due to the suspension geometry and this is amplified when the oil dampers and makes it very slow and awkward to back up on some surfaces. I upgrade one of mine to oil dampers in the past and have left the rest of them all stock. I kind of prefer the stock bounce of them and the charm it has. but if you can find the shocks for a deal then it is not a terrible upgrade. I have not run aftermarket shocks, just the Tamiya ones, so I am not sure how those perform.

    Firstly, I was really shocked to see a new model come out on the old CWO1 platform..... Good marketing move Tamiya - Pick a really popular chassis which has all the tooling and moulds already in production and re market it with a different shell.... No R/D needed, no new tooling/production needed, and the reassurance from nearly 40 years of consumer data that denotes it is a platform that is in demand. So why then go and mess with one of the fundamental features that makes this chassis what it is??? Those small wheels just looked totally off scale, and totally took away the essence of what the CWO1 is about! Just one look at the comments section clearly indicates that every single person is in the same mind set. Those small wheels will be enough to severely limit the popularity, and unit sales for this kit, ultimately severely limiting profit potential. It makes no sense to me how a company that's been in the game so long can mess up something so simple to such an extent! I love Tamiya, but some of their decisions just have no logic. Putting the lunchbox wheels on this has totally transformed it mate, not just in looks, but I would hazard a guess fun factor and performance to. You done a great job on the body, that red works on everything! Have to agree with you regarding the painting details on rather than applying decals.... I would choose paint over decals every time, I always hand paint lights, bumpers, trim etc on all of my hard bodies. The stickers make things look toy grade, and don't stand the test of time as dirt and dust eventually start lifting them around the edges. Maybe I'm just set in my ways as that's how it always used to be done back in the day.... part of building a kit is painting on the detail in my mind. It looked great fun to blast about in the yard.... Wheelies, falling over itself, and that distinctive high pitch CWO1 gearbox whine that we all know and love! I'm not entirely convinced that the dampers are a positive thing, it looked to me as if the traditional pogo sticks actually work better with this old platform...... Once again Tamiya - If it ain't broke, don't try and fix it! Personally, I would love to see another van body brought out on the standard CWO1 platform, or even a MK1 VW camper van/bus...... Hmmm maybe a custom venture I might explore at some point in the future! 👍 👍 👍

    Yeah it was a confusing choice for sure. I get the idea they were going for but someone there should have spoke up a bit louder and said it looked silly and sad but they have always marched to the beat of their own drum and do what they want. Some things are slightly odd and other are really strange,, like this. I am convince they ordered too many of these tires by accident and trying to find a way to get rid of them all. They are the worst tire they ever produced as well. Too hard and I really have not liked them on anything they have come on. So far I have not left them on a single kit yet. I also agree with you about the oil dampers on the the CW01, it does take away a bit of the charm from the drive of it. It is still fun there is a little of the bouncy, bounding magic missing from the drive. The could come up with several types of bodies on this chassis and it would do great. Even a more modern pickup body or like you said another van of some type would be awesome! Take care James and sorry to wind you up but you had very valid points and we will never know why they do what they do over there!!
