Tamiya M-05 NSU TT Part 1

So, I picked up this kit a while ago because for some reason it caught my eye and really liked how it looked. I don’t need another on-road car I have to drive somewhere to run but I kinda needed this one, I am sure many can relate!! This is the unboxing and chassis build part and I will get it painted and finished off in an upcoming video and in that one we will take it out for a spin and see how it does!
You guys are all awesome and I appreciate all the great comments and questions from everyone. Really enjoying talking to you all in the comments section.

I see a fwd drag racing club car when I look at this. Wide and fat front tires and lawn mower wheels in the back😝. This always catches my eye when Craig at OAG takes his out! What ever you do with it Addam, I know it’ll turn out sick!😊✌🏻🍻😛

Yeah, I have seen Craig's and thought about doing an off-road version of it but I kind of feel in love with the box art looks and really want to see what it will do on pavement. It may turn into a rally type car eventually, who knows! It was fun building a new chassis type and I admire all the engineering and thought that went into making a tiny car have all that adjustability for 3 different wheel bases and packing all that stuff into a small kit so we'll!! Thanks for checking in!!

I am glad it helped out! The odd design of the manual to hop around the way it does makes it a bit confusing. One you are done it makes more sense but in the midst of building it can be a head scratcher! I have some painting to do as well! I just got the mid sized and full sized Aero Avante kits built and the bodies cut out so I need to get them painted tomorrow after work.

Yes, they made the trunk deck stay propped as the motor ran very hot as it was being pushed to the limits and this was a way to get a lot more air flow over the motor. I am sure it also provided a tiny bit of downforce acting like a small spoiler on the rear as well. They were very light weight cars and am sure it did not take much to increase the down force a bit. It was mainly for the motor cooling from what I have read and heard!

That’s pretty nifty, I didn’t know that Tamiya made a front wheel drive chassis. I like the modifications you put on, I hate plastic bearings and friction shocks. I would just use a rubber band to pull the wires in, it’s only semi-permanent and it won’t chafe the wires.

  • @AddamsPlayground

Thanks, it was a fun build and one I had never done. They make a few front wheel drive cars but I think this is the most common chassis, at least currently. It was fun building a different chassis for a change. the rubber band idea will work I will look to see about doing something more permanent as it never fails the rubber is perfectly fine when I leave the house but breaks as soon as I get to the run spot and I won't remember to have any spares!! @@AddamsPlayground Yes it's quiet interesting. The name of the car is Prinz (Prince). It was a small car but used in races it took turns with higher speeds than the competers and was famous for beating even Porsches. You can see it as the grandfather of the Audi A3. And if you don't like the Jägermeister look, even the "civil" versions had the open trunk. People don't want to buy a new car or motor just because it overheated. Back in those days cars weren't so common as today and a big investment for ordanary people.😉

Awesome build and review. I’ve also not had any experience with a fwd chassis before. Curious to know how they drive. I hope to get a m03 or m05 short wheelbase rover mini cooper someday. 👍😊

Addam, what type of servo did you use? Is it the regular sized servo or could you fit a low profile servo? Thanks!

It fits a standard servo in it. You could always run a low profile one to save a little weight. There is actually a fair amount of room for things in and on the chassis the way it is designed. Lighter is usually better for on road cars.

@@o46b83 The little M05 runs really nice! The trim sticker can be a bit fiddly to get on but once it is all done up it looks really nice. The rings of stickers around the tail lights.... good luck! They go one but don't want to stay on.
