I'm 57 been building models since I was 9 years old. The thought you put into this Corsair is beyond amazing. I respect anyone who goes the extra mile when they are building a model. I wish I had the guts to post my builds, but I am not very good when it comes to video and posting stuff. Keep up the amazing work.

James, I second that. Been building since the early 70's as well and am skeptical of my ability to film, edit and post any of my builds. I'm probably my own worst critic. Yep....the level of detail and thought that goes into this build is fantastic. I have an Arado AR 196 that begs for this kind of treatment, but I doubt I could hit this level of quality. I have enough kits in my stash where I could build and upload 1 kit a week until I die, but I too lack the guts to put myself out there like this. I guess I worry too much about what people would think.....instead of just focusing on my enjoyment of the hobby.
I'm a beginner at building Aircraft models. I love the corsairs. I watched from beginning to end. I literally saw this plane come to life as you were building it. Absolutely Awesome. Very well done. Keep up the good work.

Excellent assembly of this model, the paint job is phenomenal, the result is a piece of art. It would be nice if after spending 45 minutes watching the video you should present the final result in a better way and in full screen.

So there'll keep me busy for a few weeks , the last time a built a model I was 14 yrs it's changed a bit since I built a model , you could buy a small airfix kit for £1.00 back then

The "Late" Robert Conrad was in my little home town filming a pilot for a possible TV show. I walked a few blocks where they were filming. Radial engine tend to collect oil in the lower cylinders. Its partially coming from those tubes you installed. Then the oil is pumped from a tank at the lowest point and flows to the heads through those pipes that connects the pistons together. When you see ground crews slowly turning over the engines by hand it is to prevent hydraulic lock, from the oil. Once they know none of the pistons are locked they will begin startup procedures, turn on the ignitions and spin the engine up. With the Corsair and many others an explosive shell was used to provide the energy to spin thew big Pratt and Whitney radials..

I think you did a really nice job. Couple things. On corsairs, the bottom of the aircraft is pretty messy. Not only from the engine but from ground crew rearming the aircraft. 2 areas that need a tad more "scratches" is the tail fin. There is always debris from the big propellers causing chips. And some more on the cockpit windows. The canopy is always getting closed kinda haphazardly. But these are just not picks.

Great job on the folded wings - I tried that on my build of this kit and it was a disaster. I noticed you didn't use the braces for the wings, maybe that was my mistake. First Tamiya kit I've been disappointed with.

I years past had built this kit! I had painted it gloss dark sea blue, with very little weathering; just a few highlights of non-specular dark sea blue, and some accents to distinguish the panelling. Has Tamiya reworked its newer 1:32nd-scale kit of the Chance Vought F4U-1/2 Corsair U.S. Navy Carrier-based Fighter to make kits of the F4U-1A and the F4U-1D? And possibly, an F4U-1C, with four Browning M3 20mm cannons?
