Mate the best video of this model on this platform. Tamiya, airfix, trumpeter and others should be sending you models to review and build for free. I know you couldn't build them all but hey if they are listening and they should be they need to get you on board. Love the ships but this was brilliant.

Best build series of any of the 1/32 Tamiya, Fab 5 line of kits. A6M2b Zero, Mk.IXc Spitfire, F4U-1D Corsair, p-51D Mustang being the other four. I have built two of each of them and one Tamiya Mosquito done posed in flight. With that experience I agree with Steve's building practices, analysis and final thoughts. We thank you, Steve for the series and the kindness/patience to respond to our comments.

thanks so much John. the lovely comments I get from you guys is a great motivator for me and it’s great to have so much engagement with what I’m doing. I appreciate your support as much as you apparently like the videos so it’s all worthwhile. 👍
Fantastic series, great viewing and a beautifully built Mosquito..... nothing better than watching a masterful builder at work. I couldn't wait to see each episode and learned so much in the process. It's great when a company develops a kit that basically falls together without issues....well done, Tamiya! Next, the Messerschmitt BF 109G (and the Easy Eight quick build).

I agree, this is a masterpiece of model making and painting those markings really made a difference. but your work on those oil cooler decals amazed me as even in the extreme close we get on TV no trace of decal film was evident! The whole business with scale engines and un-scale model panels was very interesting, at most scales aircraft skin would be like tinfoil i guess. the prop turning was unexpected at the end. No wobble, but then this was Tamiya not Monogram!

@TheModelShed ... A masterful build and yet another one of your subjects which i have bookmarked for future reference when I get round to mine. If I may offer one suggestion / critique? Your build skills are top notch - they certainly far exceed mine - but i would love for you to stretch yourself a little more on the weathering front, and in particular the use of oils rather than enamels or *cough* Flory :) Having watched a number of your aircraft videos - all of which I have loved, I really can't stress that enough - the weathering feels a little 'going through the motions'. I used to build relatively clean too, and told myself it was because that's what I preferred, when in fact I was just a little scared to try new stuff. Anyway, thank you *ever so much* for this and your other epic builds (I don't even build ships but have loved your Hood and Bismarck series!), they really are great watching in so many different ways. Thanks again, Nick.
@TheModelShed

it’s a fair point well made Nick. I’ve always tended towards light weathering and I’ve spoiled (to my eye anyway) more models than I care to remember from overdoing it. It is an area where I’m conscious that I would like to look at some different techniques - stay posted you might see some other stuff gradually coming in. Thanks for your well considered comment I appreciate it.

Fantastic video build series and amazing end result Steve. Nice work all round. I enjoyed the lot. Can I enquire because i'm curious - why did you paint the canopy seperately later and not install it earlier and paint at the same time as the airframe? would it not remove the need of all that masking in the cockpit and allow a more precise paint match?
@TheModelShed
Жыл бұрын
I haven’t fixed the canopy Paul - I leave it removable. you’re right it is usual good practice but I’m happy with the paint match
Well done on the Mosie , question for you any plans for the 1/32 border models Lancaster ? I believe this would test even your patience, don't get me wrong a great kit but the instructions leave much to the imagination , give us a heads up on your decision .

No plans for the border Lanc Gary. it’s too big an investment at the moment and I don’t have space for it really.
Hello Steve, my names Kenny and I’ve just watched this series with great interest. I’m actually just waiting for my kit to turn up but I have a question for you and I’d be extremely grateful if you could answer it for me please:- if you were to build another Mossie what aftermarket bits n bobs would you get ??? AND definitely wouldn’t get 😂😂😂 ummm I’m not working at the moment due to I’ll health. A very nice gentleman on eBay allowed me to pay him in instalments so I could afford to get his kit. My last instalment is on 19th of this month so fingers crossed I’ll get it soon after just depends on the old postman 🙏🙏🙏 anyway any information or advice on this kit I would be extremely grateful for 🙏🙏🙏 I’d also just like to say how wonderful I find your videos especially with all the farmyard animals in the background 😂😂😂 but seriously you have a manor about you I find very pleasing. You don’t baffle us with B/S or big words that I have to look up the meanings of 😔😢 even when things don’t go right your always calm and collected. Most enjoyable videos so thank you very much for sharing your wonderful skills with us all. I wish you every success with future builds hopefully a 1/32nd Tamiya Spitfire and or an F4J Phantom 😉😉😉👍👍👍👍👍👍

Hi Kenny. For aftermarket I would use the fabric seatbelts, the 20mm and .303 gun bays, the barracuda stencils and a mask set for the national insignia. I would avoid the engine sets and just detail the Tamiya engines using the Brassin instructions as reference. Good luck with yours it’s a lovely kit.

@@TheModelShed Steve, thanks very much I really appreciate your honesty. I thought after a few months you may have changed your mind but everything you’ve said here was in your video. I was hoping something might have happened to change your mind but obviously not 🤓🤓🤓 that’s brilliant though 😍😍😍 I’ve got a set of stencils for 1/32nd RAF roundels but I need to get another set that I’ve seen which has the ❌ don’t walk stencil plus all the rest. The Eduard gun set comes with precut cockpit masks and a set of resin wheels, but I seem to remember you had problems with them, the hubs didn’t fit 😳😔 there’s also a small PE set for the snow/FOD filters on front radiator’s it also comes with some Dzus fasteners for the removable cowlings or rather a representative of a Dzus fasteners anyway 😂😂😂 I’m tempted to get the gun barrel and pito tube set as well but I’m going to have to take my time getting them all. Thank you again for your wonderful video series I’m sure I’ll be watching it again and AGAIN 😂😂😂 it’s such a remarkable build 🤓😍👍 I’m now watching your ZukiMura BF109 build and again I’m loving it, so much so that I’ll probably be getting one very soon, or as soon as I’ve got all the parts for the Mosquito anyway 😂😂😂 and thank you for replying to my questions I truly appreciate your kindness there as I can appreciate your extremely busy, so… just know I appreciate and thank you you’re an extremely nice chap and a wonderful modeller and I wish you every success with your channel 🙏🙏🙏🤞🤞🤞👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

interesting Will - the next 1/32 is programmed in already but I might come back to that.
Hi Steve, I am building this kit now and have learnt a lot from this series thank you. I do have a question about the roundels. You used Mr Hobby H47 acrylic which in your video looks brick red like the decals. But when I bought this exact same paint it looks very brown compared to the decals in fact nothing like the brick red at all. It has me stumped and I wonder if you have any thoughts on it.
@TheModelShed
Жыл бұрын
Rod when I first read your comment my first thought was that I'd added some flat red to the H47 so I was surprised when I looked back at the footage (in part 17 I think) that I'd just used the H47 from the bottle. However I was matching the red to the Xtradecal fuselage roundels which are that shade - but RAF roundel colours vary alot from one decal manufacturer to another. The Tamiya roundels are very red (too red IMO). I'd suggest trying your colours out on some scrap and against any roundels you're going to use. You might have to add a bit of flat red to the H47 to get close.
@rodp7801
Жыл бұрын
@@TheModelShed Thanks Steve - yes a different decal colour would certainly explain the difference and I am going to use the Tamiya ones. The Tamiya Lacquer Dull Red used for the fuel tanks is also almost right but needs a touch of Pure red - so I will try that as well as your suggestion. Thank you for your reply. You are an excellent presenter and model maker.
@rodp7801
Жыл бұрын
I can see where my confusion came from. The colour profile differences between your camera and my display meant that the decal you had looks a lot like the Tamiya decal (more red) so I didn't realise it was different. It seemed funny that your bottle matched the decal when my bottle looked a lot browner, but the reality was both your decal and your bottle were a lot browner than they looked on my monitor.
Still trying to find all the Eduard sets Have you numbers
