Taming my untamed Indian Ringneck (part 1)

This is me taming my parrot, I will make other parts and make a playlist.
This is my bird and I will tame her how I want. I would perfer to start out with a strong bond, then to just force her to step up. It is all about patience. I have had her for 2 1/2 weeks so she is already kind of used to me. Hope you enjoyed!! Stay tuned for part 2 and so forth until she is tamed by subscribing!!!!

Kathy Yes you are right all the other video in youtube are well tame ringneck and wasting time watching, They say their are expert and hv number is years dealing with birds but can't even make a proper training video session from a untamed bird to a tame bird ...this is what we want to see, step by step on training yr bird from beginning.

I wish there was a video on KZread where someone can help with an IRN that freaks when you get close! All videos I have seen on taming IRNs start with the bird comfortable when near their owner. I cannot hold a pea (her fav treat) around 5 cm from the cage (outside) without her flapping around.

Make sure that your movements are slow and not sudden. Also, if you can, spend more time just sitting in the room that the bird is in so that it can understand you aren't a threat. Remember, bonding takes time :)

I had the same situation. She was so skittish. I bought a bird harness and took her on walks in my shoulder. It made a huge difference. Kind of had to use a sheet to LIGHTLY cover her to put the harness on. Honestly time is what it takes. It really takes at least a year with consistent work and patience. Go by them, say hi, & walk away so they don't feel chased and smothered. Talk to her everyday and slowly get closer and closer.

My Indian Ringneck flew out his cage today for the second time and wasn’t going back into his cage. He was out for about an hour or so and pooped on the radiator. I managed to grab him and he bit my thumb. It’s a week since I got him now, was it too early to let him out and also did I make it worse by grabbing him? I left a piece of apple on top of his cage hoping that would make him go back in but didn’t work. Please help 😔 what I should do to make him lose his fear and trust me?

No offense; but throw away the round dowel rod perches, or pitch them in the fireplace. Horrible for their feet. The very worst perch a person could select. Stick to perches that have contours and uneven surfaces such as grapevine perches (Amazon). Secondly, that cage likewise is just not suited for an IRN. Nice bird but his living conditions will depress your bird and even lead to ill health. Cage should be MUCH larger and add more elaborate toys. IRN is not a finch.

Throw away the dowel rod perches and go for grape vine perches.. Trash the cage and get a real parrot cage that is much larger. Indian Ring Neck need more space and the dowel rod perches are going to lead to poor foot health. Need more toys and foraging items. Just a FYI.

Please don't tell me that that is her cage... Also, why is her tail cut? You should NEVER EVER touch a birds tail feathers. If this is the birds cage, please change it to the right one. Also, what is up with the toys. Parrots need chewable toys, non -chewable toys, toys that stimulate thinking, and foraging. That cage is waaaaaayyy to small for the bird. I can report this video for animal abuse. Please change it.

Mitha one no if you are a good owner of a parrot you should know that parrots need to have time alone in the cage and need to learn how to spend time on its own. I let my parrots out most of the day however i still have my parrots inside their cages for 1 or 2 hours. Reason for this is because parrots need to understand that we wont be here for them all the time. They develop behavioral issues. Also, just because a parrot spends most of its time outside does not mean you can have a cage like that. I have an indian ringneck. Their tales will grow. That cage is definitely two small for that bird. My very first lovebird used to be out with me all the time and i didn't use a small cage. I still bought a big one. If you need more proof on this go search it up.
