OMG Geebz, if you're getting into Tame Impala, which btw is a great move into a genre you haven't covered yet, you have to check out the musical opus that is Let It Happen (studio recording) off of the Currents Album. There are so many compositional and arrangement nuances to it, and IMO, a tour de force of a song. A real masterwork album with a great deal of maturity, experimentation, and concept story arch.

  • @codycornell2212

We NEEEEED more Tame Impala! and this is coming from a huge metal guy, too. Let It Happen (studio version for the full song) by Tame Impala is my personal favorite. The production on it is insane. Each of his albums sound pretty significantly different from another. All of it has a psychadelic theme, and the kind of rock and pop it expresses that trippy theme through varies throughout Kevin's discography.

elephant is the only tame impala song that sounds like elephant sounds. kevin parker (aka tame impala) does every instrument himself for the albums, and with each album, he reinvents the sound. the earliest tame impala albums (innerspeaker, lonerism) are solid alt, experimental, almost grungy rock, but the latest albums (currents, the slow rush) are much more electronic, soul, R&B, dance. but for my money, everything the guy does is psychedelic gold. probably my favorite band of the last decade. jane's addiction "three days" is my suggestion for a reaction vid. =) thanks for these!

Tame Impala is part of a neo-psychedelic revival that's been going on outside of mainstream trends for about a decade now. Unknown Mortal Orchestra is another really good band doing similar stuff that's worth checking out; all their albums are fairly stylistically diverse, especially the past few, but a good place to start would be something like the title track off their album "Multi-Love".

From all kinds of instrumental bliss to different worlds of engineering wizardry. My top suggestions would be any of the first 3 songs from the first album (Innerspeaker), Why Wont They Talk To Me from the 2nd (Lonerism), The Moment from the 3rd (Currents), then Lost In Yesterday and/or It Might Be Time from his most recent album (The Slow Rush). Lots of comments on where to go next for Tame Impala so I’ll throw my suggestion in with Half Glass Full of Wine-great rock tune. Bit different from what I’ve seen you react to so far but I would love to hear your take on some songs from Animal Collective. They started as a noise band and traveled through various experimental sounds and psychedelic folk but they’re are mainly known for their experimental pop. Songs like No More Runnin, Loch Raven, or Safer would be my recommendations. Think their production would interest you!

Fortunately almost any track by this guy is sheer genius. For similar psychedelic rock see the rest of Lonerism and Innerspeaker, for his more clubby sound see Currents and Slow Rush. He’s a drummer by trade but learned all other instruments. What’s cool is he plays the drums through his tracks but then chops them up as if they were samples for the final production. He thrives on having this vintage psychedelic rock way of doing things. So glad you visited Impala country! Please do more!

Recently found your channel when your reaction to Protest the Hero came on my feed (and patiently waiting for you to do another by them), and it’s been a pleasure following along and discovering new music or hearing them in a new way! A song that you might enjoy is Beer by Reel Big Fish. Not what you might typically listen to, but it has a nice groovy bass line :) Regardless if you check it or not, have an awesome day 😎

I've never heard this band until now. Sounds old and new all at once........ That's cool. The mix is way punchy and really unique. It's a really catchy, straight forward song with not so straight forward engineering. I should hear some more from this band.

Tame Impala is an Australian neo-psychedelic rock band in the form of one guy called Kevin Parker (although, when he performs live or wants to know how it sounds live in the studio, he is accompanied by a few band members). Parker plays all the instruments, writes all the songs, and produces all of them too. Tame Impala has been described as "a scientific experiment where, in an alternate timeline, John Lennon in 1966 decided to join Pink Floyd". There are 4 albums; the first two (Innerspeaker and Lonerism) are firmly in the 'neo-psychedelic rock' category whereas the latter two albums (Currents and The Slow Rush) are closer to disco/psychedelic pop. 'Elephant' is from Lonerism and is somewhat of an anomaly in their music as it is much bluesier than their usual songs. For a taste of each album I recommend checking out 'Feels Like We Only Go Backwards', 'Why Won't You Make Up Your Mind?', 'The Less I Know the Better', and 'Is It True?'.

Hey Geebz, been following your channel for a while now. I really dig the way you react to music, focusing on sounds as it comes to your ears. Love that Tame Impala made it here. They have open the path for a new scene of psychdelic rock in Australia, that have been resurrecting old psychdelic rock from late 60's but giving it a fresh new touch, specially playing with effects and sounds from this era, and recording and mixing in unorthodox ways. I know you will dig that and enjoy more in other songs from them like "Apocalypse Dreams".(i mean, maybe Elephant it's not their usual stuff) Also from this Australian scene, i know you covered King Gizzard & the Wizard Lizzard with "if not now then when" but you should really check their song "Crumbling Castle". I know you will hallucinate with their odd tempos, polyrythms and the recording and mixing they do homemade. Cheers from Argentina mate, keep it up!

Stand out tracks for me include Drilling, Memphis and 53rd, Summer Angel, Fooled by the Night, Dayglow Vista Rd, and Steel and Blood. Would love to get your breakdown of one of those songs. Minus the Bear is one of my favorite bands
