Current KPOP is playing safe where as back then, 2ND Gen is where true creative freedom really is especially during BIGBANG's active years. They broke barriers and really paved the way to all good things being experienced by new kpop gens now.

MONSTER is actually a song dedicated to ex-members of VIP fandom. BIGBANG's fandom name. You see, those ex-VIP members left the fandom during BIGBANG's dark moments. Calling and seeing BIGBANG as monsters. Bad people all that stuff. . .this song is about BIGBANG members telling them that they are not monsters. They are not perfect but they are not monsters or abomination that should be cursed.

Although i have watched allthose mvs many times but they still manage to put a smile on my face and every reaction on them still excites me .

Every time BigBang released music the kpop industry took an evolutionary step foward . They proved idols can be real artists , always exploring new styles of music , always pushing the limit . Almost everything you see today done in kpop started with BigBang. SM put the base of the idol system but BigBang shook that up and brought creative freedom . They are the blueprint of groups you see today. Whatever bad stuff you hear about BigBang, the worst things are not true . Korea is very messed up and i dont know how deep you are into kpop but you need to be ready for the nasty side . A celebrity can get dragged into scandal for stupid stuff and without any kind of actual evidence . People are forced to apologize even if they are innocent . The clean , nice image is fake and the idustry is brutal . Anyway if you are ready to give the bad boys a chance BigBang are real artists and all of them are very good singers . Try some live performances. Watch Daesung sing Anymore live , TOPs Act like nothing is wrong ( the old video where he plays harmonica) , Taeyang sing Eyes Nose Lips . Watch BigBang sing Haru Haru live at their Made tour concert in Seoul . Sober performance in Malaysia. You want a club song try GD and Taeyang performance of Good Boy at MAMA 2014 . Fan accounts like Dorian Gray have the lives with eng subtitles.

Thanks for your suggestions..I will check them out..I haven't really heard anything 'bad' about them..just the one story that's floating around. I have realized however that there are def some not so great sides to the K music industry...since I've started watching I've def seen some of of them like that example you gave of apologizing for things even when they probably didn't need to..I'm not a fan of those things tbh:/ Overall though I'm pretty much here for the music and I am looking forward to hearing more of their stuff..I like their vibe so far!

One of the things I admire the most about BIGBANG, especially when looking at Kpop today, is that they never went along with the poisonous "stan group mentality" that is so prominent today. Never condoned social media brigading and harassment, never tried to form sickening parasocial relationships with their fans, and never accepted the weaponizing of their fandom.

@@TalkswithToni Along with the rise of social media and the Korean pop culture companies trying to cash in on it came extremely oppressive fan groups whose entire ethos is based on how their favourite groups/idols are being disrespected/held back in some way. This persecution complex is what fuels some of the biggest fandoms today. Notably the BTS and Blackpink ones.

Ooh..Thank you for watching. I DID get that "pioneering" vibe from them because if they were making music like that back then, they were truly ahead of their time. I was shocked I tell you🤣 I won't talk too much about the stuff in the news.I mentioned it in passing because it's really like in all the feeds I open, so I couldn't really escape it. At the end of the day though, I hope things won't out well for him. Even "idols" are human too. In the meantime, I will enjoy their music, I only knew 2 songs before..now I know 4🤭..I will check out live performances of those songs but feel free to share other songs you think I would enjoy.

They have a very diverse discography. They can do bangers to ballads. And their LIVE PERFS are the best.

If you really care about k-pop then not doing deep dive into BIGBANG is a crime imo, I'm not saying this because I'm a VIP since 2008 but because if you see ANY of the current k-pop idol's interviews from 2012 onwards (specially of those who are extremely successful now) then you'll find one common thing, that is their admiration... Infact absolute FANBOYENT/FANGIRLSISH attitude towards BIGBANG. They (BIGBANG) is known as "IDOLS OF IDOLS" cos almost 80-90% today's idols are FANS... Again not exaggerating this, but HARDCORE FANS, to the point where many of current idols dreamed to be idols because of BIGBANG. You can see this in suchwita ep 3, SUGA the most poker faced BTS member can't hide his FAN moment when he invited TAEYANG nd it's just one example... IU (soloist) was like literally simping on Taeyang to the point where her mother had to intevene to stop her and there are planty of such examples there. So if you care about k-pop then it's a CRIME to not do a deep dive of the group which started it all (ohh btw, BigBang was the group which started "giving their fans name, having lightsticks, coloring their hairs before every comeback, SELF WRITTEN AND PRODUCED SONGS, having mini albums, having sub unit, having solo career, doing world wide tour.." and list goes on and on and on)

I got an inkling of that from watching clips of other groups in passing or seeing articles here and there..so that's why I decided to go beyond just the two songs which I knew..the two I did first.I'd be happy to check them out..I'm kind of scared of doing deep dives because I might get swept away lol..🙈 When I like something I reallllyyy like something. But I'll give it a shot..Can you recommend some songs for me to look at next? I just picked the last two songs randomly because I had noooo idea where to go with my Big Bang Exploration. @@TalkswithToni "fxxk it" would be 1st recommendation "Haru haru" would be other (it's old... Like really old 2008 to be exact so I don't know if you'd enjoy it or not but I've suggested it because it started mine and millions of others k-pop journey as it was the 1st MEGA hit from k-pop and BIGBANG) "Looser" is another great song by BigBang "If you" is another recommendation from me Now as you've Loooved Taeyang, I'd suggest to check out THE BEST SOLO song in k-pop till date "Eyes Nose Lips" by Taeyang (little backstory, he wrote, composed and dedicated this song to his then Ex girlfriend and after releasing this song, they got back together and eventually married, now they even have a kid in December 2021) so "Eyes Nose Lips" is my 3rd recommendation ohh and as you are doing reaction to this, don't forget to add a LEGENDARY live performance of this from "Fantastic Duo". Now if you want their live performances recommendation then I'd be MAMA 2015, MMA sober + Fantastic Baby, Haru Haru Live + VIP sing along I think that's a lot of recommendations for now 😂😂 But before all these, you should do A MUST DO guide which explains them really really well "a very helpful unhelpful guide to BIGBANG 2022"

Live performance is a must 😁

Monster has a very sad backstory and it's special for VIPS. This song was released after a few scandals from the members and some fans had turned their backs on them. Thus, the ' I love you/I need you, baby. I'm not a monster." After that, they released the ALIVE album which allowed BIGBANG to come back stronger than ever, breaking records and setting standards, cementing their status as the OG KINGS OF KPOP!

Just enjoy their music, don't worry about anything outside of that. They're worth the ride. I do recommend you checking out their lyrics (maybe reacting to videos with subtitles, sometimes there're M/Vs with subs on their official channel and sometimes there's unofficial channels with M/V subbed). I think you'd have liked more "Monster" with the lyrics since it gives a bit more context to the concept of the sound. And as some have said, you should do lives too. I loved your faces Toni, thanks for reacting to Bigbang, their live performances are THE BEST, you should react to them.

So one way to look at K-pop is think of it as a community and/or the industry but it is not a all in one genre anymore because each of the different companies bring a different genre to the table. Big bang is from YG and YG loves to have harder hitting/party songs and you can also see that within the other artist in the company. Each company through the years have learned what they do the best and so when they training their trainees, they are looking for a certain type of person, to match the company style. Also thank you for the reaction and I look forward to seeing more videos.

Except for MONSTER - all these songs came out in 2015, from the MADE Album. This was there 3rd Album and most successful - since theit debuted in 2006. To really understand this group, you need to follow their journey. Like most Kpop bands they started out with dancing and singing, but these guys were different..........WHY.........BECAUSE they were the first Kpop group to write and compose their own music right from 2007 on. G Dragon penned alot of their music, but all of them are lyricist, musicians in their own right. THESE MV"s - PUSH THE ENVELOPE........BIG BANG did this on purpose. All their mssic highlights the struggles we all have in lots of different ways. Their struggle was trying to live normal lives when none of them were normal. They are ARtsits, Musicians, Songwriters, composers and they took LIFE for what it was and is.......HARD but always with LOVE. FANTASTIC BABY was a shout out to all struggles we have that are maybe impossed on us from those who think BEST!!!!! Our own people... and more... they are also showing us the differences amongst us and have with each other - but how we still fight the good fight....... How we let go and have fun and a chance to just BE........... and ULTIMATE LY- we must be able to sing and dance too. Now the styling of this group. They all each indivduals so they have big differences in their personalities.........BUT this is their persona.. NOT them in real life. they put on a pesona of who we think or want them to be. The reason they did this was because by 2015 they had been the biigest group out of Korea in the last 8 - 9 years. They were also very international by this stage and they had to provide for the wider western audiences... The last song WE LIKE to Party is very much them also. These guys have so many different type of songs....... and all genre's - but they were the first Kpop group to have rappers and do hip hop. Now all Kpop grops have these Artsits. They produced the first lightstick. G Dragon designed it. They were the first Kpop group to tour the world and win at MTV and more.... And these 5 guys did it themselves. Even prodcued their own MV;s like they did for the last song you reacted to. Are all bring something to their group that vocally no other groups have.

That was daesung you mistaken as taeyang. He really is a great vocalist..you can watch his ANYMORE song..its just a jawdropping live performance. No kpop idol can reach daesung's vocal level..

I was a fan now I’ve written them off I just can’t shake off what they’ve done in real life. And sadlyseungri is in the song so there’s no way I can’t separate especially sinceim’SA victim they were good artist but as humans except Taeyang they’re trash Ithey had their time but not anymore don’t wanna hear4 out of the 5 members people will say I’m being emotive and stuff but when I’m a fan I don’t except the person to be perfect but what they did is off the charts!!

If you were a real fan back then , you would have read the real documents from the court and learned about his case. Not just just trusting the tabloid. If you have done that as a fan, you'd not have given them up and since you already given them up, just move on.
