Talks on Sri Ramana Maharshi: Narrated by David Godman - Lakshmi the Cow
Lakshmi was of of the most outstanding devotees of Sri Ramana Maharshi. In this film David Godman narrates the story of her life and explains why Sri Ramana and his devotees hold her in such high esteem.
A full account of her life can be read in The Power of the Presence, part three, by David Godman.
I plan to add English, French, Spanish, German and Italian subtitles to these talks on Sri Ramana Maharshi. I have English transcripts of the talks. If anyone feels inspired to translate them into other languages, other subtitles can be added as well.

Thank you so much, David, for offering us the fruits of your passion and interest in Bhagavan's life. These videos are rare gifts.
Thank you David. This is such a lovely series on Lakshmi. Your words and stories are so comforting. I never tire of listening to you. A special person you are. Chosen by Ramana to continue the message.
Lakshmi! How blessed your life is. Thank you for sharing this beautiful story David! My love for Ramana deepens every moment of every day.
Thank you, David! One of the strongest avenues Baghavan found into my heart is through a shared love of animals. This video you’ve compiled is one of the best cases for acknowledging what is called the rights of animals, for which I have long campaigned but no longer find the anger useful. This love is beyond any body and his loving examples, even if sometimes including the appearance of anger, is the kind of movement for all creatures I dearly want to realize. These tears of joy are the start.
I express my sincerest gratitude for posting this.
it's amazing to see the cows standing behind you sit down when you start narrating the story of how lakshmi started living in ashram permanently...!!!!
Thank you, David, for these wonderful talks. I've been a Ramakrishna devotee for awhile and have become very interested in Bhagwan Ramana. I wanted a corollary to (but could not find) The Gospel Of Sri Ramakrishna which, way back when, allowed me to get to know Thakur (Ramakrishna) as a person who walked the Earth. These talks of yours are the delightful corollary I sought. Thank you for this wonderful introduction to the life of Sri Ramana Maharshi.
I love these. Listen to them every night as I fall asleep. Just wish there were more Ramana stories from David.
Thank you for for all these talks. I love it. I am in Tiru right now so I feel I have personal tour with you. Bless you.
Blessings to you for gifting us with these treasured messages of Self Realization
Thank you!
These videos of Ramana Maharshi are a life time asset for all of us to learn from the teachings of a Realised Guru

Dear David , thank you for posting these clips. Pure Gold! I plan to be in India(delhi) in late dec/jan, I am indian, settled in Australia. Any chance to chat with you about Bhagwan, as I feel a keen desire to visit Arunachala?warm regards, taran
Grazie di Cuore è una storia bellissima !!!
On the surface of this information you must admit that it seems a little farfetched. But after you have analyzed the purity & spiritual stature of RAMANA MAHARSHI,you have to conclude that he knows more about the TRUTH of this information, its backstory, than I do.SAINTS OF ALL RELIGIONS I SALUTE YOU ALL.
So maybe my great respect and love for my dog, and desire to give her all good things, is not foolishness as everyone seems to suggest. I communicate with her in a very similar way and depth as is described with Bhagavan and Lakshmi. To be fair, I think many people do
Es un buen recuerdo y si creo que los animales pueden trascender...son iguales que nosotros también tienen Conciencia y Amor. ♡♡♡
Moving story, what a lucky 🐄
Lakshmi lived 22 years

Wonderful. Thanks so much. David, in this video you quote from what you had written earlier about Lakshmi. I would be interested in reading that. Is it available anywhere?

Thank you for sharing this story. i heard you saying in one of your videos that Ramana said that only his mother and Lakshmi were enlightened while being in his presence i wonder what about all of his devotees who loved him and followed his teachings? What about Papaji who considered Ramana his Master?
🙏

rony fedrer It's Ramana Puranam. Full details are given at the end of each film. You can order either from the Sri Ramanasramam Book Depot (which is where I got my copy) or directly from the Ramana Maharshi Centre for Learning in Bangalore
♥️
Holy cow,
David I’m curious if you’ve ever had 5-MeO-DMT or sapo from the Sonoran desert toad and your thoughts about it. Does it really facilitate a direct experience with the self?
Lakshmi Ma Ki Jay
Thanq David for the enlightenment. Wish every Hindu knew to spread the word avoiding conversions
🕉🕉🕉🙏
The cows behind David are tethered on very short leads on dry land - is this usual or was this just done to provide background for the talk?

Nice observation..these cows are let out most of the day and come back for food..they are free. But I appreciate your concern
Sri sad Guru Krupa
From what I have read, on one occasion, Sri Ramana told"" Realisation is possible in animals but exceedingly rare; even in Puranas how many examples have we heard like Gajendra Moksha??"". David, your narration seem to imply that realization is possible in animals(without any condition ); in my view , that may not be an unqualified truth, from what I have stated above.

When a drop merges in an ocean it becomes the same..Papaji was one in That ..
The white cow in the background has such an uncomfortably short leash. Hope they keep it longer.
I have to laugh, that Bhagavan "did it all [i.e. build the extravagant expensive cow shed building, even though he was extremely frugal] for Lakshmi" (the cow). After all, as he said, the cow was enlightened. But after all, he Bhagavan knew that money and growth of the ashram would follow from the initiative - not that he was apparently interested in that outcome.
All animals already realized.
He was able to Intuit any thing..cow birth means last one as an animal.. next one is as a human..but Laxhmi was released ..no more births.❤
It makes sense the Green Granny reincarnated to Lakshmi because she wanted to live near Ramana

Definitely Yes. If you're alluding to kundalini. The physical body has nothing to do with it. It's the etheric body. Moreover, energy can rise in astral and other bodies as well.
Do those cows have rope through there noses? And they are on a very short leash, what's with that?
“When in the body of a donkey, enjoy the taste of grass.” Tibetan
i do hope the ahsram improves the goshala, last time i went it was not very ethical seeming, the ashram should be dairy free and serve as a place of seva for the cows instead of extraction, the current ashram feels off from ramana’s energy, i stated this to the accountant/manager there and was waved off.
Next please talk about Ramana's toilet habits. It will be interesting to know about our Avvatar's daily activities. Do Bhagavans ( God) need toilets.

Except for the loud music with jarring notes , the production of these videos are excellent. Please can you remove or tone down the volume of the music interludes ?

The musical interludes are beautiful. Try to understand the meaning even if it is not your Mother tongue language and perhaps you might appreciate it.
