Talking to Muslims About Christ | Mohammed Hijab & Jonathan Pageau | EP 297

Dr Jordan B Peterson, Jonathan Pageau, and Mohammed Hijab discuss comparative religion, what is said about Islam versus what Islam has to say, and how the uncomfortable conversation - whether contentious or unnerving, is well worth having.
Mohammed Hijab is an author, comparative religionist, and philosopher of scripture. He is the co-founder of the Sapience Institute and is a researcher and instructor for the organization. He has a BA in Politics and a master’s degree in History. He has also acquired a second master’s in Islamic Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies, as well as a third master’s degree in Applied Theology from the University of Oxford. Currently, he is working toward his PhD in Philosophy of Religion. Having completed Islamic seminary courses, he is one of very few Muslims who has been given formal permission to relay Islamic knowledge on selected Islamic fields, dealing with comparative, political, and theological issues. In his efforts, he has amassed a substantial following on KZread, aided in part by authoring books such as “The Scientific Deception of the New Atheists.”
Jonathan Pageau is a French-Canadian liturgical artist and icon carver, known for his work featured in museums across the world. He carves Eastern Orthodox and other traditional images and teaches an online carving class. He also runs a KZread channel dedicated to the exploration of symbolism across history and religion.
Dr Peterson's extensive catalog is available now on DailyWire+: utm.io/ueSXh

It's better to listen to him for hours than to waste your time in nonsense stuffs that people talk which they they don't believe and also don't help you to grow as an individual. I was little disappointed in how the talk ended abruptly without the conclusion of his ideas. Thank you for captivating me in this hour and half talk without diverting my eyes elsewhere.

  • @ThoseRedPillGuys

    @ThoseRedPillGuys

    Ай бұрын

    There is a very reasonable explanation why Jesus cursed the fig tree even though it wasn’t the season for figs. Even before the season, fig trees produce little knobs which are eaten by a passerby. As the late renowned NT scholar F.F. Bruce noted: "The other miracle is the cursing of the barren fig tree (Mk. xi 12 ff.), a stumbling block to many. They feel that it is unlike Jesus, and so someone must have misunderstood what actually happened, or turned a spoken parable into an acted miracle, or something like that. Some, on the other hand, welcome the story because it shows that Jesus was human enough to get unreasonably annoyed on occasion. It appears, however, that a closer acquaintance with fig trees would have prevented such misunderstandings. ‘The time of the fig is not yet,’ says Mark, for it was just before Passover, about six weeks before the fully-formed fig appears. The fact that Mark adds these words shows that he knew what he was talking about. When the fig leaves appear about the end of March, they are accompanied by a crop of small knobs, called taqsh by the Arabs, a sort of fore-runner of the real figs. These taqsh are eaten by peasants and others when hungry. They drop off before the real fig is formed. But if the leaves appear unaccompanied by taqsh, there will be no figs that year. So it was evident to our Lord, when He turned aside to see if there were any of these taqsh on the fig-tree to assuage His hunger for the time being, that the absence of the taqsh meant that there would be no figs when the time of figs came. For all its fair foliage, it was a fruitless and a hopeless tree." (Bruce, Are The New Testament Documents Reliable? [Intervarsity Press; Downers Grove, Ill, fifth revised edition 1992], pp. 73-74; bold emphasis ours). Many people have already addressed the fig tree talking point of Muslims trying to refute Christians. Many have done this for hijab and his mates. He seemingly ignores it.

    Nothing wrong with disagreeing with someone for whatever you believe. I’m a Christian in training, wasn’t raised as a Christian, didn’t go to church, didn’t know God, just started about 4 years ago. I listen to all view points. Because of my experience 4 years ago with God and things God has shown me these last few years I know Jesus is not only my savior but God. I live by 3 rules (and probably don’t do them well). First I love God first, All other humans second, and I try to apply the Fruit of the Spirit to every conversation and everything I do. Communication is extremely important whether we agree or disagree, otherwise we have issues, communication is not trying to better someone or change someone THAT IS God’s plan and job. The 2 main differences between Christianity: 1) -Yeshua claimed to be (and in fact, is) God. -Mohammed's brother declared him to be a prophet. 2) -Yeshua instructed His followers to spread the gospel by simply telling everyone, not by force. - Mohammed set the example for his followers by leading them in rampages across Arabia, killing some and making slaves of others who refused to convert.

    The US's 'Founding Fathers', already tried this approach of 'attempt to understand the muslim jackals, who kept killing & enslaving non-islamics indiscriminantly & without mercy or for amy apparent sane reason. They were told that that's how it's written in the q'ran & haddiths, that's how it'll remain. The result was a ban on muslims withim the US. Infortunately, Nancy Pelosi, Mitch McConnell, John McCain, Lindsay Graham & 1 or 2 other retards removed yhay law, in the 60's or 70's. That's treason & punishable by death. muslims are blooded from an early age & are raised to - expected to inflict fear, terror & atrocities upon the infidels via the 7 types of jihad, on every occassion, while being taught to deceive manipulate & destroy everything that wasn't made via allah. Look up taharoosh/taharuush. The way muslims achieve their halal food, is the same way the satanist elites get their adrenalin packed blood from tortured children before they're killed. They both pray to the devil & get along like a house on fire. To understand the reason why they always act like cut snakes, search for video & text on halal, adrenalin, epi-pen & adrenochrome processes. All are part of the global cabal & must be forced to leave our countries - receive the penalty of death, if they don't comply.

You have to pray toward a rock that has a black stone in it - idolatry; 3. You have to give charity only to Muslim causes. You are not to support other causes. - But you claim Islam is a religion of peace and mercy. What a joke! 4. You have the fasting but when people cannot fast during the month, you pay somebody to fast on your behalf, and you earn righteousness! - But you deny what Christ Jesus did for you on the cross and His resurrection so that believers can get His righteousness (Rom4:25); 5. Allah Glory to him said:”Those who say, “Allah is the Messiah, son of Mary,” have certainly fallen into disbelief. The Messiah ˹himself˺ said, “O Children of Israel! Worship Allah-my Lord and your Lord.” Whoever associates others with Allah ˹in worship˺ will surely be forbidden Paradise by Allah. Their home will be the Fire. And the wrongdoers will have no helpers.-72-Those who say, “Allah is one in a Trinity,” have certainly fallen into disbelief. There is only One God. If they do not stop saying this, those who disbelieve among them will be afflicted with a painful punishment.-73-Will they not turn to Allah in repentance and seek His forgiveness? And Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.-74- The Messiah, son of Mary, was no more than a messenger. ˹Many˺ messengers had ˹come and˺ gone before him. His mother was a woman of truth. They both ate food.1 See how We make the signs clear to them, yet see how they are deluded ˹from the truth˺!-75- Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “How can you worship besides Allah those who can neither harm nor benefit you? And Allah ˹alone˺ is the All-Hearing, All-Knowing.”-76- Say, “O People of the Book! Do not go to extremes in your faith beyond the truth, nor follow the vain desires of those who went astray before ˹you˺. They misled many and strayed from the Right Way.”-77- The disbelievers among the Children of Israel were condemned in the revelations of David and Jesus, son of Mary. That was for their disobedience and violations.-78- They did not forbid one another from doing evil. Evil indeed was what they did!-79- You see many of them taking the disbelievers1 as allies. Truly wicked are their misdeeds, which have earned them Allah’s wrath. And they will be in everlasting torment.-80- Had they believed in Allah, the Prophet, and what has been revealed to him, they would have never taken those ˹pagans˺ as allies. But most of them are rebellious-81- You will surely find the most bitter towards the believers to be the Jews and polytheists and the most gracious to be those who call themselves Christian. That is because there are priests and monks among them and because they are not arrogant.-82- When they listen to what has been revealed to the Messenger, you see their eyes overflowing with tears for recognizing the truth. They say, “Our Lord! We believe, so count us among the witnesses.-83- Why should we not believe in Allah and the truth that has come to us? And we long for our Lord to include us in the company of the righteous.”-84-So Allah will reward them for what they said with Gardens under which rivers flow, to stay there forever. And that is the reward of the good-doers.-85-“ Al-Maida Al Quran Al-Kareem

    In the name of Allah the most gracious the most merciful Allah Glory to him said: Indeed, Allah chose Adam, Noah, the family of Abraham, and the family of Imrân [father of Mary] above all people. -33- They are descendants of one another. And Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. -34- ˹Remember˺ when the wife of ’Imrân said, “My Lord! I dedicate what is in my womb entirely to Your service,1 so accept it from me. You ˹alone˺ are truly the All-Hearing, All-Knowing.” -35-When she delivered, she said, “My Lord! I have given birth to a girl,”-and Allah fully knew what she had delivered-“and the male is not like the female. I have named her Mary, and I seek Your protection for her and her offspring from Satan, the accursed.”-36- So her Lord accepted her graciously and blessed her with a pleasant upbringing-entrusting her to the care of Zachariah. Whenever Zachariah visited her in the sanctuary, he found her supplied with provisions. He exclaimed, “O Mary! Where did this come from?” She replied, “It is from Allah. Surely Allah provides for whoever He wills without limit.”-37- Then and there Zachariah prayed to his Lord, saying, “My Lord! Grant me-by your grace-righteous offspring. You are certainly the Hearer of ˹all˺ prayers.”-38- So the angels called out to him while he stood praying in the sanctuary, “Allah gives you good news of ˹the birth of˺ John who will confirm the Word of Allah and will be a great leader, chaste, and a prophet among the righteous.”-39- Zachariah exclaimed, “My Lord! How can I have a son when I am very old and my wife is barren?” He replied, “So will it be. Allah does what He wills.” -40- Zachariah said, “My Lord! Grant me a sign.” He said, “Your sign is that you will not ˹be able to˺ speak to people for three days except through gestures. Remember your Lord often and glorify ˹Him˺ morning and evening.”-41- And ˹remember˺ when the angels said, “O Mary! Surely Allah has selected you, purified you, and chosen you over all women of the world. -42- O Mary! Be devout to your Lord, prostrate yourself ˹in prayer˺ and bow along with those who bow down.”-43- This is news of the unseen that We reveal to you ˹O Prophet˺. You were not with them when they cast lots to decide who would be Mary’s guardian, nor were you there when they argued ˹about it˺.-44- ˹Remember˺ when the angels proclaimed, “O Mary! Allah gives you good news of a Word1 from Him, his name will be the Messiah,2 Jesus, son of Mary; honoured in this world and the Hereafter, and he will be one of those nearest ˹to Allah˺.-45- And he will speak to people in ˹his˺ infancy and adulthood and will be one of the righteous.” -46- Mary wondered, “My Lord! How can I have a child when no man has ever touched me?” An angel replied, “So will it be. Allah creates what He wills. When He decrees a matter, He simply tells it, ‘Be!’ And it is! -47- And Allah will teach him writing and wisdom, the Torah and the Gospel,-48- and ˹make him˺ a messenger to the Children of Israel ˹to proclaim,˺ ‘I have come to you with a sign from your Lord: I will make for you a bird from clay, breathe into it, and it will become a ˹real˺ bird-by Allah’s Will. I will heal the blind and the leper and raise the dead to life-by Allah’s Will. And I will prophesize what you eat and store in your houses. Surely in this is a sign for you if you ˹truly˺ believe. -49- And I will confirm the Torah revealed before me and legalize some of what had been forbidden to you. I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, so be mindful of Allah and obey me. -50- Surely Allah is my Lord and your Lord. So worship Him ˹alone˺. This is the Straight Path.’” -51- When Jesus sensed disbelief from his people, he asked, “Who will stand up with me for Allah?” The disciples replied, “We will stand up for Allah. We believe in Allah, so bear witness that we have submitted.” -52- ˹They prayed to Allah,˺ “Our Lord! We believe in Your revelations and follow the messenger, so count us among those who bear witness.” -53- And the disbelievers made a plan ˹against Jesus˺, but Allah also planned-and Allah is the best of planners.-54- ˹Remember˺ when Allah said, “O Jesus! I will take you1 and raise you up to Myself. I will deliver you from those who disbelieve, and elevate your followers above the disbelievers until the Day of Judgment. Then to Me you will ˹all˺ return, and I will settle all your disputes. -55- As for those who disbelieve, I will subject them to a severe punishment in this life and the Hereafter, and they will have no helpers. -56- And as for those who believe and do good, they will be rewarded in full. And Allah does not like the wrongdoers.” -57- We recite ˹all˺ this to you ˹O Prophet˺ as one of the signs1 and ˹as˺ a wise reminder. -58- Indeed, the example of Jesus in the sight of Allah is like that of Adam. He created him from dust, then said to him, “Be!” And he was! -59- This is the truth from your Lord, so do not be one of those who doubt. -60- }} Al-Imaran Al-Quran Al-Kareem

    That is the very skill that has disappeared from universities: debate, discussion, apologetics, conversation. The whole reason for the existence of universities and town halls- inquiry, examination, development of new and better ways to conduct modes and methods of exploration- has been dispensed with only to have been replaced with myopic and soul-crushing oppression and ideological dogma. I am a Christian who was raised Southern Baptist but now I am non-denominational. I've always had questions about faith and religion and how it correlates to mine or how it doesn't but here's where I'm stumped: In our Christian faith we are taught to honor our Mother & Father & so therefore in a lot of Christian households, we are taught about the Bible. So how can we look at other religions as being "wrong" whenever they likely had a similar way of adopting religion (through family)? I have met so many wonderful people from all different religions & it's incredibly hard to condemn someone for their religious beliefs because we can't even collectively define religion itself. Just to reiterate, I believe the Gospel but I would like someone from the Christian faith to explain to me how someone who was born Muslim and died Muslim who never knew Jesus will not be entering the Kingdom of Heaven??? Any thoughts on this would be welcomed.

    Islam is a vision for life. It is a system for how to live on this planet with 7+ billion human beings and make sure everyone is taken care of. It makes heroes out of boys and it makes scholars out of mothers. This Deen of Islam is the correct solution for life, and the Secular system is man made garbage. if the conversation was more focused on solutions, then the discussion would be far less about subjective views and beliefs. or random claims like "i will look at this as a psychologist" or "no I would not accept something with enough proven evidence". In the end, This video ends up being great youtube click content for likes and followers.

    I can respond if you like. I suppose you could call me a Christian as I try to follow the words of Jesus and the bible, search for a closer relationship with God, and go to church meetings. The consistent “evidence” supporting my own belief in what (and who) I consider to be the way and truth has been the vast array of modern psychological, sociological and psychoanalytical findings that seem to fall perfectly in place with what God communicates to us in the bible, especially in Jesus’ teachings. Peterson points out quite a few more consistencies in this discussion, which I found fascinating. On top of that, I love his articulation of the idea that looking at stories in the bible as literal, historical, somewhat ephemeral incidences are in a way downplaying their eternal significance, because they were true then, they are now, and they will be in the future.

  • @char377

    @char377

    Жыл бұрын

    On top of that, I also loved hearing from Mohammed about the consistencies with modern life which his holy book have described. On the darker side, I do believe his fervent (and no doubt religiously dutiful) attempts to convince the other two of the higher value or more rightful place of his own religion was kind of missing the point of where this conversation was intended to go. I hoped the core similarities and differences would be discussed in order to reach a further understanding of how we can coexist without conflict, but as Mohammed had suggested a few times, unity is not his main goal.
