l have a recued lorri her name is Merlyn the fact that she talked saved her life. 2 interested cats had her corner in a shed and owner of the cats could hear someone say "hello Hello" and she saved her, took her to our vet. l was called and asked if l would take her, they knew l wouldnt say no. so glad l have her here, she is wonderful company when lm on my own,

I love birds like this. move and sound like little dinosaurs.

Poppy is very beautiful. What a display of color ! A living rainbow. She doesn't show how she plays with her plastic balls. But just to see her hoping around on the top of the cage can't be less admired.

I have a wild pair that have been visiting me for a few years now. I see them in the tree each morning and they come down to my balcony when I come out of the bedroom. If I don't show up on time, the male comes down and gives me a persistent call. I give them a bit of food and they hang out chatting with each other and keeping a lookout. They are really so lovely. I call them Mulder and Scully. I went a few months without feeding them and they still came back. Love those little guys.

I rescued a rainbow lori with runners disease, a viral illness that affects feathers. The disease is suppressed by vitamins but would kill her in the wild. She is my first bird in 35 years. She's very smart. Her favourite word is "stop it". Interactions with our pet whippet are hilarious. He is lovely and won't hurt her although does get jealous and barks, cries and snaps at her tail.

I will testify that rainbow lorikeets are wonderful parrots I had one named Ricky that I adopted from a bird store he was roughly 9 to 11 years old somebody else had him and could no longer take care of him and he adapt to me quickly he loved his purple wiffle ball just like this one. Extremely intelligent and boy do they have strong claws their muscles in their hands are probably one of the strongest for that size parrot and the beak is strong as well. Ricky taught himself a trick because I certainly didn't he would pick a paper plate off the floor and get underneath and Roll It on its Edge all way across the floor he learn that all on his own

My mother and i used to own a pair of rainbow lorikeets and i can tell you that is just a sound they make. The hopping comes natural too.

Its not necessary to clip the wings,I hav 1 myself,it will stay by you,even outside he is staying on my shoulders,they are very loyal and protective..,and very sweet, only the pooing : )

Its just cruel to the bird. If the owner is afraid of having a bird without wings, he should have no birds at all. Imagine having your hands cut so you cannot escape. Yeah well, your hands are growing again, so you surely dont mind I cut them for the time being? You belong to me, its my choice. (Yes, human hands dont grow again, just to illustrate how cruel it is to the bird.) Cut wings lead to injuries due to inability to fly, to deformed bones, weak muscles, etc.

He flew away while I was trying to take him out of the cage to clip his wings and wash his cage. Can't believe that was almost 10 years ago... felt like it was yesterday. But since I'm busy with college I don't have as much feel time as I'd like so I suppose it was for the better.

Mine poops a lot too and it's only 5 weeks old though but trust me rainbow lorikeets are such loving and cute birds

Oh my goood, sooo pretty *-* i have a budgie, Rocky, he's just 8 weeks old and he can talk a little, well i mean, he makes funny noises like Poppy :p

From when Poppy was a baby she use to hop around like that and as she grew up she kept that particular trait. We don't encourage her to hop around its just comes naturally to her. The gurgling noise I believe may be copied from when she has played with that particular toy :) Thanks for watching

I agree totally. And they should never be alone. Parrots are extremely social and getting one parrot to sit alone in a cage all day while you are at work is enough to drive them insane. It's very sad.

just a little tip for better appearance , when u cut the feathers leave the last 2 longest ones , helps them groom better and look much better :)!
