Talking Heads_Found A Job (Live at Entermedia Theatre, 1978)

UNRELEASED PERFORMANCE VIDEO BY TALKING HEADS. TALKING HEADS, FOUND A JOB (VERY RARE).
Lyrics:
"Damn that television ... what a bad picture"!
"Don't get upset, It's not a major disaster".
"There's nothing on tonight", he said, "I don't know
what's the matter"!
"Nothing's ever on", she said, "so ... I don't know
why you bother."
We've heard this little scene, we've heard it many times.
People fighting over little things and wasting precious time.
They might be better off ... I think ... the way it seems to me.
Making up their own shows, which might be better than T.V.
(CHORUS)
Judy's in the bedroom, inventing situations.
Bob is on the street today, scouting up locations.
They've enlisted all their family.
They've enlisted all their friends.
It helped saved their relationship,
And made it work again ...
Their show gets real high ratings, they think they have a hit.
There might even be a spinoff, but they're not sure 'bout that.
If they ever watch T.V. again, it'd be too soon for them.
Bob never yells about the picture now, he's having
too much fun.
(CHORUS)
Judy's in the bedroom, inventing situations,
Bob is on the street today, scouting up locations.
They've enlisted all their family.
They've enlisted all their friends.
It helped save their relationship,
And made it work again ...
So think about this little scene; apply it to you life.
If your work isn't what you love, then something isn't right.
Just look at Bob and Judy; they're happy as can be,
Inventing situations, putting them on T.V.
(CHORUS)
Judy's in the bedroom, inventing situations.
Bob is on the street today, scouting up locations.
They've enlisting all their family.
They've enlisted all their friends.
It helped save the relationship,
And made it work again ...

Talking Heads was an American rock band formed in 1974 in New York City and active until 1991. The band comprised David Byrne, Chris Frantz, Tina Weymouth and Jerry Harrison. Auxiliary musicians also frequently made appearances in concert and on the group's albums.
The music of Talking Heads combined elements of punk rock, new wave, pop, funk, world music and art rock. Frontman and songwriter David Byrne contributed whimsical, esoteric lyrics to the band's songs, and emphasized their showmanship through various multimedia projects and performances. Critic Stephen Thomas Erlewine describes Talking Heads as being "one of the most critically acclaimed bands of the '80s, while managing to earn several pop hits."
In 2002, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Four of the band's albums appeared on Rolling Stone magazine's 2003 list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, and the Channel 4 100 Greatest Albums poll listed one album (Fear of Music) at number 76. Their concert film Stop Making Sense is widely regarded as one of the finest examples of the genre.

Ok the bass is owning this song. Just had to say that.
Oh man she's such a melodic player - she's such a good groover. Lot's of my favorite Talking Heads songs are very bass-driven, like this one.
45 years old, and it would still be fresh if it came out today
Little did the cameramen know when filming this that Tina's bass riff is the driving force of this song. Treated her like Sasquatch with these little glimpses they gave us.

My favorite bass line from my favorite bassist. Probably my favorite TH performance too!
David never told Jerry that his mic wasn’t on. Wonderful.
Hard ass bassline from Tina. I can't nail that. It is just too hard!

It’s one of her best efforts for sure. She kills it.
Tina Kicks AZZZ!! Jerry does that great riff at the end as well!!

+Dave Anderson Tina's playing is "up" in this mix. Great to hear how funky she is...prelude to Tom Tom Club.
That bass is nuts!
I loved how a lot of early Talking Heads songs were about the mundane, everyday things in life..buildings, cities, food, getting a job…as opposed to grandiose declarations of love, heartbreak, sex etc, the standard clichés of pop music.
Fantastic bass playing by Tina Weymouth, and Byrne is a great rythm guitarist!
Tina‘s Bass is the best 🎸👌

Another Tine Troll.
What make this fabulous song really amazing is that it was written in 1978 and appears to predict the coming of "Reality TV" decades later.

The lyrics predicted the future of "television." I was impressed with this back then, and it had to come true. I worked in the TV industry, and witnessed first hand its obsolescence in small markets.
Love this tune, love this album, love this band.
Any time someone says "it's not a major disaster" I have to listen to this song 🤗

Someone at an employment presentation I attended said: 'If your work isn't what you love...' and I said 'then something isn't right'. She said: 'Very good.' I don't think she knew the song. :)
I really hate the fact that a band like this wouldt never make today. Talking Heads is truly "once in a life time." I love you!
Tina was leading for parts of this song. Epic
So so good. Rock. Punk. Reggae. Classical. Soul. All in one song. Genius.
If you watch their live footage chronological, you'll notice all of their instrumental technique improves drastically as the years go by. Of course, they also surrounded themselves with better instrumentalists and seemed to learn a lot from them (especially Tina).

I liked them best when they were a 4 piece band. The expanded version was ok, but I prefer the more minimalist version of TH. I also saw them live during this period, so that's another reason.

@@brucemacmillan7128 I'm with you, Bruce. The four of them were their best incarnation. I also saw them in 1978. They were just great. Wish DB would put them back together again but that seems beyond unlikely. At least we still have the original recordings and a lot of material on YT. Peace out.

They’d never have taken off if it weren’t for Jerry joining them. He had pro experience with Jonathan Richmond and the Modern Lovers, and brought his guitar and keys skills to the trio. Whatta band, eh?
Dammit, that was so good.
Uber fun song to play on the bass
Super cool song, and Martina Weymouth is so precise and funky on the bass. I love this tune, THs, rock!

Best version and quality I've heard yet, THANKS
1978 and Mr Byrne has just predicted youtubers.
There’ll never be a band like them again.
I feel blessed that I still have awesome songs like this playing in my head & not segments of today’s pop trash.
Just… absolutely… astounding. So much joy. This performance gives me chills.
One of the best grooves ...starts at 3:24.
If this wasn't so tight, I'd say there were illegal substances involved, but everybody in the band is smoking! Byrnes rhythm guitar is spot on during the solo. The bass and drums are so solid as well.

"If your work isn't what you love, then something isn't right." Which is why I'm not part of the working world anymore.
Love the early Heads! So cutting edge.
Tina's bass playing is so transcendnt
gotta love the groove
Miss Weymouth is the queen (and king) of bass players! :)
GREAT SONG....shared to the 'Good Morning Music Community' on Google+
a real favourite tune found on a great album.
If your work isn't what you love, then something isn't right!
love tina's bass
All four are equally and righteously brilliant. 🙂 And I have a similar bass, ha!
Ugh Tinas bass carries this song and yet the camera is hardly on her 😩
Imagine tina didn't want to join the talking heads.. didn't even play bass.. only because her bf(future husband) kept asking her. Where would they be .. especially for that unmistakable intro to psycho killer
everyone great in this, but, imo, Tina owns this song!
Very nice
Ay mamita, ese bajo
Killer BASS 👍👍👍👍
this is really something. Man, that bass.........pfiew
they peaked in 1979 with fear of music....but 78 was a great year in music for sure...saw them at beacon theatre in NY 1978 new years eve!

wonderful song
Oh Gods, I haven't heard this in years. Thank you so much!

YOU DA MAN!!
is this song about you tube, people inventing situations putting them on tv, then getting noticed .very prophetic for 1978
😂 What can you say about the T-Heads? They were always that band that was so far better than their contemporaries. I saw them as a 4 piece. And watched them expand to an amazing Wall of Sound. If you listen closely, you'll hear me in the audience when Stop Making Sense was filmed at the Pantages. This is an awesome rendition of one of their best songs.
Wish I could find a job.
David Byrne prophesies the future; KZread!
Tina. Fucking. Weymouth.
