TIME STAMPS: 2:48 -- Earthquake breaks down the origins of his name and how much his mother actually had to do with it. He goes on to talk about his family's doubts of his achieving success being one of his biggest motivators when he was getting started as a comedian. They also discuss Earthquake being raised by his aunt and uncle in Southeast Washington D.C., serving in the Air Force for 9 years, moving to Atlanta, and who the funniest member of his family is. 7:17 -- Talib brings up the first time he and Earthquake met, and they go on to talk about their mutual friend, Kenneth Whack who played 'Dragonfly Jones' assistant Kenji on 'Martin,' and Earthquake's podcast on SIRIUS XM. They also get into Earthquake's take on why D.C. has produced so many great comedians over the years, his current comedy tour with Donnell Rawlings, and how being on the road with his hometown friend has brought out the best in both, like steel sharpening steel. 12:01 -- Earthquake is asked about his mentioning of being a terrible soldier during his years in the service. They discuss the title of his special 'These Ain't Jokes' and he recounts the time he dropped a nuclear warhead when he was rushing to get to a 2 Live concert and then being put on snack bar duty thereafter. Earthquake explains how the situation gave him a new nickname and had him realizing that communism exists in the military. 18:16 -- Earthquake's classic run on BET's ComicView is brought up. They discuss the show's set up of a competition for who would become the next host and how that ended in Earthquake's tossing a table when he found out he lost and being banned from BET. They also get into Earthquake's joining the later years of Def Comedy Jam, having fun even though he wanted to get on earlier, and his first-hand witnessing of the volatile love affair between TLC's Left-Eye Lopez and Andre Rison. 23:31 -- Earthquake reflects on how being turned away from the established Atlanta black comedy clubs gave him the motivation to build his own path and create the Uptown Comedy Club. They discuss the difference that Steve Harvey made when he showed up and started performing there and how they were able to get the club opened after a local surgeon invested 20k in the idea and saw a double on his return. 29:30 -- Earthquake talks about his love for Wale's song, 'Legendary' and how much he connects to the lyrics, about only fearing mediocrity. They go on to discuss how special Go-Go music is to Earthquake's hometown of D.C., the prevalence of Go-Go in hip hop during the late 80's, and Talib still using E.U. 's 'Da Butt' during his DJ sets. Earthquake also talks about being the only one dancing at the Air Force base during his one-song requests. 33:58 -- Earthquake's admittance of taking the covid vaccine is brought up and they discuss the controversy that occurs when Black people tell other Black people they got the jab. Talib goes on to talk about the backlash he got in the comment section of Lord Jamar's podcast when he revealed he got the vaccine, and they get into the hypocrisy of the anti-vaxxers that criticize them when they take far greater risks on a daily basis. 37:05 -- Earthquake's mentioning of white people believing in Trump like he is Jesus is brought up. They get into how the capitol insurrection is proof of the two-tier justice system and how the Republican Party has become the party of if you aren't a white male your words have no meaning. They also discuss Replacement Theory, actions of Julian Assange, and the mentality of many white people believing that the banning of abortions will produce more white babies. 43:39 -- Earthquake is asked about his involvement in the 'Jokes For our Folks' comedy show, put on to benefit the community and victim's families of the Buffalo mass shooting. The convo then segways into Earthquake's take on gun control, being a former member of the military and an owner of 11 guns himself. They go on to discuss the only instance of the NRA supporting gun control being when the Black Panthers appeared visibly armed at the California State Capitol building to protest. 46:41 -- Earthquake's very public divorce is brought up and the Vlad clip that went viral about his challenges with the process of being forced to pay alimony. He goes on to talk about his strong feelings on why he feels it's unfair to have to pay for a failed relationship and doing his best to make sure his child doesn't feel it's his fault. They go on to discuss the idea of spouses being entitled to the wealth built while they were married. 56:08 -- Earthquake gets into his learning the power of radio through Steve Harvey when was able to fully book his club for the whole weekend after an early morning appearance on the local station. They go on to discuss Earthquake's cameo in the new Jerry Seinfeld comedy 'Unfrosted,' how the opportunity came about, and Earthquake looking forward to the future of his career and putting his best work out to let it stand.
