That's true, and if you want a hilarious example of overacting, watch the young girl playing Maureen in this classic ephemeral film: kzread.info/dash/bejne/qImklKSyppDVpLw.html

@@DunmoresMovieMania as a watcher of old movies even going back to the 1910s i have observed that it is an on-going stylistic evolution...everyone acted that way before movie directors started to realize that movies didn't have to just be filmed plays... it is quite fascinating to watch classic from the different eras, and I highly recommend taking advantage of the Internet's allowing us to do so...in that regard, this is a cool time to be alive.

Lovitz always on point. This was when Tom Hanks was just starting his career after the seasons of Bosom Buddies television sitcom. Forest Gump and Castaway were fresh. It was in a time when Hanks could go shirtless and hear the catcalls of the ladies and SNL was funny.

This skit pre-dates those movies by quite a bit. This skit is from 1990, Forrest came out in ‘94 and Castaway in 2000.

Soft core porn often feels like a comedy. There is a very thin line sometimes and SNL treads on that line often (their highest watched skit is a mixup between a porn show and a college class).
