Funny these days as we have the Takumi Sen 8 and now Streakfly that are undoubtedly more cushioned than the Adios 1 I used for all my road races from mile to marathon up until 5 years ago or indeed any other "racing flat" of the time. Now we all tend to say we can't race much more than about 5K in shoes unless we have at least 40mm of stack :) Conversely we can't race 5K in a shoe that has too much stack. Reality is of course the "marathon" ones do just fine for any distance and these new 5K/10K racers well am still to see in my own testing that they are actually "better" even for those distances for me.

I just bought the TS8 on sale (100USD) and i'm going to race with them in my first half marathon 2 weeks from now and my first marathon in september. I was worried about how this TS8 "5k-10k" shoe will perform in this bigger distance events. Where i live here in latin america there's no so much variety in running shoes and if there is it's a bit expensive. So that's why i'm going to race with TS8. ill keep you updated guys!

Thank you for your review. The Sen 8 is so flexible and smooth at higher paces that it may be the best road speed work shoe I’ve ever tried. The Pro 2 is a very solid choice for 15 Miles-plus but not nearly as fun as, say, the VaporFly or ASICS MetaSpeed Sky. Great comparison, as a suggestion, it would be nice for you to mention what pace you are talking about when you mention threshold pace, marathon pace, or even marathon pace (I know I can get the threshold pace used for this test from the second chapter). I know it doesn't 100% translate, but for many people their half-marathon pace is probably closer to your 5k pace, and having those numbers might help put it into perspective.

"energy rods"....do you at any time feel they are t here poking your feet. Or do you only feel them "working" ? Also, do you know if the rods over time end up poking through the midsole and into the shoe....then your feet? Or is there something in the midsole that keeps the rods THERE for the life of the shoe? Even when the foam looses it's responsiveness and there's no more tread on the outsole?

The shoes are two completely different use types as mentioned here. The adios pro 2 comes through in later miles at the marathon level. The takumi seems to be a little more of a shorter distance racer. Conversely I could not do 5ks in thae adios pro 2 because there is simply too much stack height and too much cushion. @@TimGrose That’s sort of the impetus to the question. Previously racing shoes (flats) were bare bones and were tough on the feet and legs. My Pro 2s are very comfortable and I was considering TS 8’s for workouts because the Pro 2s are for racing. I just got the Endorphin Speed 2 for that role. Curious about how much folks who race in their Pro 2s also do their workouts in them. Thanks for the input!

I don't.....I tend to use a heavier shoe(Brooks or ASICS) for training as .I work on the principle of using heavier shoes to build strength....same with cycling as I always train on a heavier ALU bike and keep the aero for the race..Bit like lifting weights really...if you keep lifting light weights you won't get stacked with more power.

Did a video of it :) Really they are at least 1/2 size too small for me so just about usable (and I do for training not racing) but for him a good size too small so other than a stride up the road sadly he can't test them. Why adidas stop their top running shoes 2 sizes smaller than Nike or Saucony is a mystery. I am about 6'5"/1.95m and "skinny" at 72 kg. He is an inch taller and believe around 85 kg which I see is not too far short of 200 lb. So if your foot fits in them think would be fine.

I bought adios pro 2 and i hate them. My legs hurt so much as I constantly need to compensate to stay on my feet. Almost broke my ankle. Very bad shoes. Now i run with adios 7 and it is so much better. I guess for adios pro 2 you must be a very light and small person to enjoy them. I'm 6 3 and these are the most terrible shoes I've ever owned

I'm glad you found something that works for you. but it didn't seem apparent from your comment, so I will make a clarification for others who may be reading this with similar concerns. different shoes are intended for different things. both the Adios Pro 2 and the Takumi Sen 8 shoes mentioned in this video are intended for faster running. For every day paces, the Adios Pro 2, like many racing shoes, may seem awkward, as can happen whenever a tool is used beyond it's intended purpose.
