Looks like they've changed the course a lot. I think they took out the stopper at the 'beach' where guides flip clients out of the raft, and moved the stopper to just below the main wave. Can't wait to try it this Dec.

Unfortunately the course is no longer like this. It was this way during winter when we were in Sydney for training. It is back to a much more traditional set up now. The stopper at the beach is back and the stopper after main wave is gone.

Longtime retired slalom paddler here, is it now common for C1 paddlers to switch sides/grip (from left to right) while paddling? In my days nobody did this because "it would take too much time", but I always thought that it could have been worth a try.

Yes it is common a lot of athletes do that😃

Yes definitely a lot more c1 men are choosing to give it a try! With the nature of slalom courses now being much tighter and more technical with a lot of turning, it’s more and more common to see people implement switching😊

@@TristanCarter I have not really realized it, but you might be right that the courses are somewhat tighter now then when I was active (in the late 80s). What I have noticed, is the lack of C2s, is this a result of the tighter coerces, or are there now tighter coerces since there are no C2s anymore (at least iot looks like they are gone from the videos I see).

@@orcaporca2001 C2 is unfortunately not apart of the roster anymore. As of Tokyo2020 Olympics, c2 was replaced by women's C1 as an Olympic event and as a result c2's funding and interest slowly died down.

I was thinking the same thing, where's his offside stroke?? Guess we did it different at the Ocoee and Nantahala in the 90's, and green is down stream gate red upstream. They drive and paddle on the wrong side🤷‍♂
