In Sunburst's defense, I can say from experience that socially awkward introverts (esp. the obsessive variety) can be _very_ thick when it comes to "reading the room". If they're aware of this fact, they often try to over-analyze others' moods/reactions to compensate, leading to intense social anxiety a la Fluttershy. If they _aren't_ aware of how bad they are at reading people... then you get Sunburst. Even if they _do_ realize something is off, if the other person reassures them (even if halfheartedly), they'll likely take it at face value and think nothing is wrong.

@@jlan7844 Starlight did more than that. One of the main reasons I have a problem with it (still liked the episode) was that it is a *fundamentally* different kind of time travel. Starswirl's spell brought you back a very short amount of time, and more importantly, as Twilight discovered, it only creates self-fulfilling loops. It CANNOT make branch universes. I'm just fine with branch-style time travel stories, but MLP already had established time travel lore. And I know Starswirl helped create the Tree, but even he had no idea about the Map. So why did she need to use the Map (which, btw, seemed to be the only thing holding the timelines together still). Time travel is a tricky business at the best of times. I think they backed themselves into a corner with "It's About Time" and just decided to handwave an explanation that vaguely made sense.

@@allenholloway5109 I think it makes perfect sense, once you realize what Starlight's special talent is: Destiny. Basically, there are three very powerful unicorns we've seen so far: Twilight, Sunset and Starlight. I'm including Sunset here because, well, when she put on the Element of Magic in the first EQG movie, it responded to her. I think her special talent is something like Conversion, most likely from light to dark (and vice versa). This would explain why the crown reacted the way it did: It was turned into a force of darkness by Sunset's innate magic. I think the Tree of Harmony had some influence in those three being born. According to my theory, it made Sunset so she converts any threats towards Equestria into allies, but she turned evil. It then made Starlight to change the destinies of those that would threaten Equestria, but she turned evil. Then, the tree made Twilight and gave her a stronger connection to itself, basically serving as a mini-version of itself, in the hopes that she learns the importance of friendship and teaches the previous two attempts, aka Sunset and Starlight, thus bringing them back on their intended track. Starlight can change ponies' destinies, most notably in the form of their cutie marks, seemingly without problem. Combined with a time travel spell, and a map that is connected to a tree that is the manifestation of the very essence of Equestria, it would make less sense if Starlight couldn't go to any point in Equestria's history and change how things play out. Though, to be fair, she "just" went back about a decade or so, and the tree had been around for over a millennium, so maybe she can't go back to before the tree in its current form existed. The tree, as a manifestation of the magic of friendship, has been shown to grow and develop, so it'd make sense that it could influence how things happen in Equestria. It's a demigod-like entity that can craft ponies to play certain roles in order to keep itself alive.

my idea for the fanfic. I REGET NOTHING The entire story follows sunburst as he travels around Equestria making new friends, but thanks to being socially awkward, and as silver put it a 'harem protagonist' to dense to tell that they are flirting with him, leading to letters he can tell have a hidden meaning but can't figure out what it is plus lewd pictures in the letters aswell leading to sunburst believing that flank pictures are a type of greetings in mail. Slide in some sunbut and moonbut and we are golden.

I'll never forget a Persona 4 discussion I was in once where the other dude didn't seem to pick up on the idea that Kanji and Naoto had a crush on each other. If you're not familiar, Kanji's crush on Naoto is an entire plot point because Naoto dresses like a guy so he spends a lot of the game questioning his sexuality over her. My point being: if you see chemistry unmistakably between two characters, good luck trying to explain that to someone that doesn't see it.

This episode is basically Starlight going: STOP TRYIN' TA STEAL MAH MAN!!!

This is one of my favorite Starlight and Sunburst episodes, i especially love the part where Starlight casts a spell to make her and Sunburst foals again, they just looked adorable.

Adding beaten by a metal bat X2, trapped in a bird cage, piano crush while asleep, and party nuked to the list. The list is finally happy.

It feels like it's been 84 years since the last fob Equestria video , but regardless of that its great to see a new vid .

Personally, I think the crystal effect the citizens of the Crystal Empire have is a result of being near the crystal heart for so long. An alternative answer is that their bodies have adapted to living in symbiosis with it since it protects them with a barrier, and the crystal ponies provide energy for the crystal with their joy and vitality. (At least I think that's what happens, it's been a while since I've seen the premiere where the crystal empire first debuted.) By that logic, if they go a far enough distance away from the empire or the heart then they lose the effect. The main six, Shining Armor, and Cadence were probably exceptions to this effect because they were in that huge recharge blast at the end of the premiere when the crystal heart restarted. Now that I think about it, if you take any context out of that last sentence it kinda sounds like the main six and the new royals performed magical, open-heart surgery on a crystal rock golem.

In the Crystal empire intro episode, when the mane 6 leave the empire, they lose their glow. I admit I'm now struggling to remember if we've seen Crystal ponies outside of the Crystal Empire. I mean in terms of the crystal look. If we did, then we can assume those ponies have been affected by the heart for so long, that the effect retains outside the barrier for at least an extended time. Otherwise, the 4 ponies we know who have spent significant time there are Sunburst, Cadence, Shining Armor, and Flurry Heart. All of which have not picked up this trait, implying that the glow is partly related to the crystaling itself, and partly related to extended exposure over a much longer time period. If we havn't seen the glow outside, then either those ponies have not moved or that it does end with the barrior.

@@sykeassai well all four of them came into the empire after it returned, (since sunburst and starlight were foals together and she is no where near as old as sombra's curse) so maybe they haven't had enough time to properly absorb the crystal ness?

This episode was to me like Once Upon a Zeppelin was to Bliss, it really hit so close to home. It's another reason why I am so much like Starlight here. One time at some event I wanted to spend most of my time with a friend, but what ended up happening was this person got invited to do other things and I got left behind because I wasn't invited. Needless to say it really hurt me a lot and it's something I've never forgotten.

@@leocruz1688 Went with that person. Traveling there ended up being the best part sadly and this person invited me to that event too. So to be invited and not be able to spend that much time with this person really hurt. Plus the event didn't have enough things to do for me to fully enjoy myself because it was small. I have a hard time connecting with people too so I was bored and lonely most of the time.

It is canon (within the Firebrand/SilverQuill/DoctorWolf shared subgroup of "The Rift" ), that both Silver Quill & Aeon of Dreams are actually "Cosmic Monstrosities": Silver is more leaning on the "demon soul reincarnated as a mortal" (that just happens to be a hippogriff with pidgeon ancestors); nicknamed the "Anti-Celestia". Aeon is an actual "Eldritch Horror" that just _chooses_ to mantain a form "your eyes can understand". Silver ocasionally uses his "demon alternate form" for comedy porpouses, while Aeon always _implies_ about it (as actually showing his "true self" would made somepony permanently mad) whenever he is "getting serious" [the equivalent of Hannibal Lecter sharpening a knife]. A skyscraper_sized, casual pony_eating lady dragon is Silver Quill´s girlfriend. She got confused about their relationship once, after she found him temporary transformed into an earth pony version of himself ("Cluttersteps"); implying that he usually does _unspeakable things_ alongside her as part of their "dates" [that would get awckward if he did not managed to fix his situation].

This is one of my all time favourite episodes and also in my top 5 personal episodes, I try to find new things that my friends and my mum like doing and they do the same with me and we have things we do have in common like talking about tv, movies and cartoons, going on days out to museums, shopping etc etc and I appreciate all the good things that some out of doing these activities, and this also shares this in common with Discordant Harmony, another favourite and personal episode of mine, the lesson that Fluttershy taught Discord about that "we may be different, but we like each other because we are different" we appreciate the different things we like and bring out the possibilities we share together just like spending time doing the things we love together ^^ Great video ^^

I just realized something! This episode would have been so much better if the issue was that Starlight was feeling inadequate compared to the new friends Sunburst was making, because all she had to connect with him was their childhood board game. But then, the resolution comes when Sunburst unexpectedly comes to her near the end of the episode to tell her how grateful he is that she helped him make so many new friends. Then after he tells her how lonely he was before, she realizes how much she has helped him, even if unintentionally and indirectly, and that’s enough to make her feel better, knowing that she still had an important role to play in his life.

These two make a fantastic comedy duo. Also the explanation on the Azula is inaccurate, there's a lot more nuance to her psychological breakdown. Having said that, Silver Quill you hop on Netflix and watch the series this minute!

A thing of particular note is that Azula was already slipping after Mai and Ty Lee betrayed her, as can be seen in the very next episode when she tracks down Team Avatar on her own. But in the finale, she is left behind when her father crowns himself emperor of the world. She is given the old title of Fire Lord, but it's clear that this isn't the kind of reward she's used to getting from her father who has always favored her. When Silver said “It just works” that’s the point I would’ve hit him with a bat too. Too bad you didn’t make a reference to Todd and the Sweet Little Lies.

I guess crystalized ponies would be a bit difficult to animate at times. But I do agree with silver, I mistakenly thought they were normal ponies instead of being from the crystal kingdom. If you don't study their shines in their eyes, it can be difficult to tell which is which.

I didn't realize how much I relate to Starlight, until today. Holding onto the past, trying to relive moments of childhood, wanting a specific person/people's attention, and taking lengths to share those bonding moments between one another. The same goes for her love language. Oof, I nearly cried as I was watching this. TwT

Yeah, Flurry Heart is my favorite. That is, one of my favorites. First being Twilight Sparkle. Second being Starlight Glimmer.

Joshscorcher & Silver Quill talks about how ponies still uses trains even though they have arcade games, shows Button Mash, and I get a tears of excitement, but I wonder how to complete the button mash remake I’m working on with 4 chapters.

WOW, this video was fun, insightful, and made me literally LOL twice! Thank you Fiery Joker and Silver Quill; it feels like a long time since a new "Taking Ponies Too Seriously" video came out and this was well worth the wait.

Awesome, insightful, and funny review as always! Your dynamic together is just perfect! The parts about love language interested me enough to take the love language test. Like Silver Quill, my love language is Acts of Service. Taking the time to do something for me without expecting much in return really shows me that someone cares about me. I also side more with the notion 'Actions speak louder than words'.

I think what I mostly loved about this video, was your discussion about love language. I actually didn't know that was a thing and I really enjoyed learning more about it afterwards and I find it really fascinating. It made me wonder what my love language was, but I honestly don't know exactly yet what it is, and I came to the conclusion that I don't think everyone has just one love language. Anyway, thank you for teaching me about this. ^^

Just found out my love language is acts of service. Probably because no one ever helped me do things while growing up. Cleaning, cooking, taking care of pets, or was always my responsibility. So now when I get help it means a lot to me. Wait, I just thought of something while rewatching old videos: Wasn't Ink Rose technically the first one shot out of a party howitzer, by Silver Quill, during the Hearts and Hooves Day review on the Joshscorcher channel, when Firebrand was trying to get back to his couch from Voice of Reason's Channel?

XDDDDD GO SILVER QUILL! One thing I think they should mention? It's possible to have a combination of love languages. For example? My love language is a mix between words of affirmation, physical touch, and quality time. For me? Nothing feels better than being able to hug or cuddle someone I care about. But I also know that person may not always be physically available so words of affirmation via text or voice means alot to me. It not only shows me they care enough to take time to put feeling to words but I get to hear/see it too. Quality time helps bridge the two together. Words without meaning can leave me feeling adrift but too much physical affection (like when my dad plays with my hair) can be unwanted and uncomfortable. This is why when I set time aside of the person? I want it to be something we can both enjoy. When dealing with someone else's love language? Its like setting up a Prank or buying a gift: it has to match the person whose love language your responding too. For example? My mom is a combo of physical touch and gifts. Getting a gift meant just for her be it a plain card or a ring from a jewlery store means that you put a lot of thought about what SHE would like. When I ride in the car with her I just lightly tap or rub her arm to say "I love you". Not sure what my dad's or sisters are. Though I don’t think that this is a case of immaturity on sunburst. He just wanted to upgrade the game and have all their friends contribute so they can play. Also firebrand? Pretty sure that most of the inconsistences as far as the technology and history is the writers or studio trying to give a shout out to the fans. As for the crystal ponies? Pretty sure that effect wears off the further they are away from the empire. As for starlight & the breaking the castle? At least she fixes the mess. Ember ate what she broke, the yaks didn’t bother cleaning up, and the pudding was no longer sentient nor was the winter chillah or discord going to help with the clean up/repairs. Pretty clear that starlight does and she cares enough to FIX THE PLACE SHE’S LIVING IN
