Taking the OVERNIGHT ferry in Japan (Oita to Kobe) Japan Travel Vlog

We take the OVERNIGHT ferry in JAPAN from Oita to Kobe!!
In today’s Japan Travel Vlog we show you our new FAVOURITE way to travel in Japan - by boat!
Famous for its high-tech modern public transport (looking at you Shinkansen), Japan is mostly very easy to navigate on trains or highway buses, which can take you to many of the popular tourist destinations in Japan. But what about those hidden gem Japan destinations in the idyllic Japanese countryside that aren’t so accessible by bullet train?
In today’s vlog come along with us on Japan’s most under-utilised mode of transport- the overnight ferry!! Japan has a wide network of ferries that can take you to the lesser-known spots in Japan. The ferries have different packages, including an open room, closed cabins and luxury suits to suit all budgets. In fact, taking the ferry is a great way to explore Japan on a budget, as it’s often cheaper than the combined cost of a bullet train ticket and hotel!
Planning a trip to Japan? The best way to see all of this amazing country is to use the Shinkansen (bullet train). Get UNLIMITED travel on almost all JR Trains, including the Shinkansen, with the JR PASS: click.jrpass.com/aff_c?offer_...

It's too bad you didn't go for a Royal or Suite. It would amaze you on the Sunflower. :)

If only tourists knew that there is a whole world of alternative (and amazing) transport in Japan! Overnight ferries and trains are such a good way to travel

Superbly well-filmed overview video with a delightful ocean journey from Oita back to Kobe! Weather looked gloomy and rainy. Did you travel by sea roundtrip or shikansen one-way? When in your multi-person suite due to COVID and overcrowding, did they max occupancy to 4 of you or did you have to share with 6 more strangers? The buffet looked delectable! At the onsen and in suite, are you able to be maskless? Do they require proof of vaccination prior to boarding? Is school year finished for you? Cheers.

Thanks for your comment! We travelled by sea both ways, but on the outgoing journey from Osaka to Beppu we stayed in a tourist room! I'm not sure if it was due to covid but we were the only people in the room. You can be maskless in the onsen and you did not need to show any proof of vaccination to board. The new school year has started again now (from April 1st)
