Aerial combat is about the most fluid form of combat ever. You can always make assumptions and educated guesses, you never know what's gonna work it what isn't, especially in DCS.

This may be the video I've enjoyed the most so far, I would have loved to see the tactical map at the end

When you ejected I thought of a neat idea- since these are modern missiles designed to attack low radar signatures, an ejected pilot would surely have a large enough rcs to be targeted by the meteor- although the slow speed might make you look like ground

Not fast enough. A pilot in freefall or in a chute Won't register on the guidance radar's velocity gate. It litterally won't see him. The search and tracking radar MIGHT see him, depending on settings. but the guidance radar will not. This is deliberate, Otherwise you'd have Fox3s smoking birds left and right.

An ejected pilot is in the same legally protected position as a surrendering soldier in the army.

3:50 one meteor just hit and splashed 2 Flankers at the same time. not to mention you got hit by a second meteor. that Rafal just make a "TRIPLE KILL!!" DotA announced loud in my head.

I get the feeling we should nickname the Meteor missiles "Crow" missiles because every time GS says that he isn't going to eat another Meteor, he seems to "eat crow" instead. Great vid!

Everyone talks about funny moments and noone noticed the absolute chad on the flanker not caring about "defending" and "thicker air" and just dodging one meteor and surviving (it seems) a hit from a second one at 7:33

I was a bit surprised to see Flankers burn through the Rafale jamming easily enough to exchange Fox-3 kills. Dassault made a *lot* of fuss of how good SPECTRA is supposed to be, to the point of the French Air Force (supposedly) refusing to develop a special Electronic Warfare variant of Rafale because the normal variant was already good enough for the role. The Rafale air-to-air plan seems to be to rain a really good missiles from afar while relying on EW as a "stealth replacement service" to prevent the enemy from shooting back until they've been wiped out by Meteors.

You should do the US vs Russia thing again but with the rule that you can't choose the same jet twice so it's more interesting. Do like 5 or 6 rounds so you can have different engagements. Also make it bandit unknown so you have to choose your jet carefully.

I think in a scenario like this, the Russian side could really benefit from having a couple of MIG-31s in the air. Their big interceptor radars and fast yet long ranged fox 3s could be major advantages in a BVR situation. Also perhaps carrying some of those fox 2 versions of the R-27 would've given the Flankers an asymmetrical threat against the Rafales as well.

Overall Russia does not really give much weight on the fighter part. Their ground anti air defense is massive and dangerous even 100s of KM away.

Honestly that was cool af, though I doubt the Flankers could have had any chances against trained Pilots in Rafales

it is all about the tactics

GS it would be really cool to see a 2v2 pvp with equal but mixed aircraft. IE: Blue- F-14 and F-18 vs Red: F-14 and F-18. F-16 & F-18 vs F-16 & F-18.. That way we can see how you can use your aircrafts advantages as a collective. Does one side choose to match up evenly or try and take advantage over the other and end it quickly to get into a 2v1 situation etc.. Thanks for the content GS!
