Alot of work for the American citizenship, here in Belgium all you gotta do is bring like 4 papers basically proving you're contributing to the society in a way and what you done for the last 5 years, you write and sign you approve of their rules and stuff and you're good to go. I'm amazed you've had to go through all of that and proud, personally I feel like I would have given up at some point

The difference is the amount of people trying to become American citizens is in the millions compared to the thousands trying to become citizens of Belgium.

Congrats Jess!! My grandmother is from Perth, WA. My grandfather was in the US Navy and stationed in Freemantle during World War 2. They married and she came here to the USA in 1946. I have her citizenship papers from when she became a US citizen in the 1950's. It's such an amazing journey you have been on!

I was born in Delhi, India (my parents are from a small country in Southeast Asia called Myanmar) and I’ve been living in Canada for 15 years now. I miss my hometown so much. I became a citizen last year and when I showed up to my oath ceremony there was a huge line wrapped around the building and it ended up being a 2 1/2 hour wait outside! The line was just as long when I left too. It was crazy
